On this day in history in 1777, Marquis de Lafayette arrived in South Carolina to join the fight against the British alongside General Washington.
Though France’s King Louis XVI had forbidden his departure to avoid angering Britain, Lafayette defied orders, escaped arrest, and evaded British ships to reach America. He soon traveled to Philadelphia, where he met Washington for the first time.

FROM @POTUS — At my direction, the United States Southern Command delivered a swift and lethal kinetic strike to successfully execute Niño Guerrero, the infamous leader of Tren De Aragua, one of the most bloodthirsty Terrorist Organizations on Planet Earth. In the aftermath of WWII, the Berlin Wall was built by the communist leaders of Eastern Germany to prevent its citizens from escaping to the West.
