I think we need to investigate the matchup more before we start crying over HC.
I think he's strong, but I think he's much more interactive than he was before thanks to his changes, and we need to know what we can do against him, like jump over his portal shots.

UNLESS you combo into a spaced s.lk first, then you will be spaced out far enough to shimmy.

Modern Sagat being the first modern in SF6 to have a special (low tiger shot) assigned to a diagonal opens up major future possibilities IMO.
Like a modern Marisa who doesn’t lose Quad?
But also just greater accessibility for anyone who physically struggles with motion inputs.

I feel like a big part of my frustration learning Ken is when I look up high-level VODs, they only teach me how to counter other high-level players. I need to see a high-level Ken crush the maniacs that are running me over in 1500s.

I feel like I need a strong Shoto player to watch me play these ranked matches in real time and tell me where it’s actually falling apart because it just feels like my game plan collapses EVERYWHERE. I can’t pinpoint specifics. I just know I’m not where I want to be.

@AsheJunius Probably a lot more productive. But yea, it's a shame Smart style isn't so great, but then again it takes a lot of careful design and thoughtfulness to replicate something like Modern in a balanced way, in such a different game. Feels half assed as it is though.

Which makes me wonder what the discussion is like in Japan regarding alternative control schemes like SF6's Modern. I may not understand the language but it looks like they're having a great time instead of gatekeeping Modern players.

It seems that the feedback that @FemShepFGC and I shared about Smart Style in COTW hasn't changed much from the beta.
My initial impressions at the time was that it felt very limiting and reduced creative agency compared to SF6's Modern.

After a few days playing CoTW I'm sad about how the smart style was designed, I have no idea it the purpose was to make it not even close to be viable or if they just didn't invest enough time to come up with a better solution, but it is so far from what SF6 did with modern.

@Tampa_Bison I think you missed my point, that there are more than 2 reasons to play modern, but either way don't think it's cool to be asking if people are handicapped on a public forum.

I'm starting to think Modern players can't be bothered to read either. I say players that use Modern are either handicapped literally (Brolylegs and Blindsven for example) or just don't want to do motion inputs and this is a response to that.
