So this is it, for Musk, I shall leave my current user name unchanged, and I hope he is bankrupted and has an utterly miserable life for destroying my only real social connection with people.

I do wonder how media/PR companies are going to continue using Twitter, but not enough to keep me on here. I’m not on any other SM site, just email, Reddit and some Discord servers (and while I still have a blog site, I’ve not updated it in years)

And so, I shall say farewell to you all, you were good fun and I learned a lot from a whole bunch of you. I even enjoyed pissing Nazis off on here. I joined a load of newsletters, and I’ll still have my reynolds@randomreality.org email address.

With Twitter banning third party clients (let’s face it Musk’s thrashing around in a panic) I am no longer using this site. I used to evangelise it in the early days, and have made some good friends and acquaintances here, but Musk has fucked it for me.

Gonna say, if I can’t use a third party app, then I’m going to delete my Twitter account. Or maybe sell my account to someone. (In case you wonder if I stop calling for armed revolution against the Tories suddenly.)

One of the first things I was told in a lecture during my nurse training was ‘beware of people who call nursing a vocation, it’s normally an excuse to pay you less’. I kept it in mind during my whole career

@IEHutchings I suspect that it’s because of that reason that a lot of Trusts never broke the 50% threshold of ballot returns.

@Reynolds I feel sorry for people who see it as a vocation. They are ripe for exploitation.

@batsgirl To be fair I’ve been told that for nurses the pension is pretty good - but that’s outside my sphere of knowledge.

@batsgirl 😂 There used to be retired nurses homes, but I think that was also mostly tied to the church. For me, it was always a job.
