Okay, my roommate gave her boyfriend our spare apartment key without telling me, he tried to let himself in at 11 PM while she was out of town, and now SHE'S MAD I RUINED HER 'ROMANTIC SURPRISE.' 🫠 We have one very clear rule in our apartment: NO giving spare keys to non-tenants without discussing it first. PERIOD. Sophie went on a work trip for three days. On night two, I was home alone when I heard someone fumbling with the lock around 11 PM. I grabbed my HEAVY flashlight. It was her boyfriend, Jake. He had Sophie's spare key. He said she gave it to him so he could surprise her by being there when she got home. He wanted to crash on our couch. I told him absolutely not. I wasn't comfortable with him in the apartment without Sophie even being there, and I had no idea he was coming. I asked him to leave and took the key back. Sophie came home furious. She said I treated her boyfriend like a criminal and completely ruined a romantic gesture.
