In addition to SA Jay winning Thursday (see game wrap in retweet below), SA Southside's Ricky Lock won #200 (many wins at Gonzales but has been a legend at Southside) & SW Legacy ended SA Southwest's 22-game reg season win streak. 5 teams are battling for 4 playoff spots: 1) x-Legacy 5-1 2) Jay 4-1 3) SW 4-1 4) Nixon 4-2 5) Southside 3-2 Legacy wins district title if they win last 2 & can clinch it this week w/win & losses by Jay & Southwest. If that happens Jay/Southwest Wk 10 is likely for 2nd home playoff game. Spring Football is officially over. We had our Final Scrimmage this morning. The 2025 Cardinal Football Team is much improved, and we are anxious for next August to get here!!! Appreciate everyone who came out to watch the scrimmage. Thanks for supporting Cardinal Football!!

The Southside Athletic Banquet will be held on Thursday, May 8th, at 6 PM in the HS Commons Area. The event will be catered, and Athlete tickets are free. Guest tickets are $13.00 and can be purchased at the Athletic Office. All teams will be recognized!! Everyone is invited !!

2v2 Score Game! All players start at the 10. Coach throws the ball into 1 of the offensive players. Ball carrier must touch the 20y line then they can score. Offensive player without the ball has to touch the hash or sideline before they can block. Defenders mirror the offense. If you’re on the ball carrier side you have to touch the end zone. Blocker side defender must touch the same time hash or sideline. Sometimes I’m not a fan of 2v2+ drills as there’s too much info to process, but this was a sweet spot of action and reading + reacting. Good drill that’s gonna stay in the rotation for sure!
