Not every connection in a network develops into meaningful activity. As networks grow, integrations often outpace actual usage, leading to chains with limited volume, low liquidity, and little contribution to overall value flow. This is increasingly relevant in the context of Axelar’s network, where broad connectivity has been established over time, but not all integrations have translated into sustained demand. Removing these underutilized connections allows the system to better reflect where activity actually exists. It improves incentive alignment, reduces unnecessary overhead, and creates a clearer structure for both validators and developers building within the Axelar ecosystem. It also shifts how progress is understood, moving away from counting integrations toward evaluating the quality and impact of those that remain. The result is a network that is more coherent, easier to maintain, and better suited to support use cases where real value is transferred, including those that bridge traditional finance and on-chain systems through Axelar.

The Purge — Explanation We are removing chains with little to no activity or volume, cutting weak connections that don’t contribute meaningful usage to the network, and focusing on those that do. This shift strengthens incentives, improves validator alignment, and concentrates effort on ecosystems where real value is created and transferred. The Purge is how the network gets stronger.
