there is a super important vote coming up that may determine the fate of you and everyone you love anyways instead of explaining the dangers of voting red in this video essay I will be whinging at you about abortion and fascism
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned Again you are equating it to, "Because some took the wrong choice, "a chance at death" we must all choose the wrong choice too to make it the right choice, we wouldn't have to do this had they chose the correct choice, but they didn't so we must choose this wrong choice too"

@Rothide @ImNotOwned It is inevitable that some will choose blue A choice being correct has to take that into account, if your idea of being 'correct' is to ignore facts because that's convenient for your preconceived notions, that's intellectually dishonest

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned Im beginning to think you have your own gravitational field they way you are so dense. The only reason you choose blue is because you believe others chose blue by accident or incorrectly, the choice you took cause others fucked up is not a ringing endorsement for the choice.

@Rothide @ImNotOwned How are you gonna call it certain death when there is a win condition? How are you gonna say there's no lose condition when red winning guarantees people will die? In a perfect world red/blue doesn't matter, in a non-perfect (real) world blue is better, i.e. blue is better

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned Please explain how certain death with a win condition is the safer choice than No Death with NO loose condition. Saying "People will take the stupid choice" doesn't negate that Red is the better/correct choice of the two options until some idiot takes the Blue choice.

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned Red, no chance at death. Blue, certain death, no death if over half the world chooses the option. Again your saying No death with no loose conditions, is a worse choice, than certain death with a win condition. And only reason you take "certain death" is "Others may take it"

@Rothide @ImNotOwned So when you purposefully limit yourself to stop thinking it's safer, and that makes it correct? It requires being stupid for it to be correct, is your argument?

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned Not looking at the outcomes, just the two choices themselves, Red is the safest choice and thus the best at survival, when you include the outcome, Blue becomes better because like you said it only needs 50.01%, but its still only taken because not everyone takes red. Red is Best

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned You are SO obtuse. Red is the correct choice. You choose Blue, because other people didn't choose Red. You are only taking the incorrect choice because others took the incorrect choice. If you knew 99.99% took red, would you still choose blue?

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned Basically there is a correct option, choose Red, but since not everyone will choose red, the BETTER option is to choose blue and pray enough selfless people chose Blue too.

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned To put it in a less dire situation. A teacher has a quiz that has one true or false question, he gives the students this option. If >50% of the class gets the question wrong, I will say everyone passsed. Does the wrong answer suddenly become right when >50% choose it

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned You are still seeing it as "Blue is the best choice", not saying Best, Saying CORRECT. Red is the Correct choice, 100% = no one dies. Blue is the incorrect choice, but you have to take it to save the people that chose incorrectly. You choose the wrong choice till it becomes right

@Rothide @ImNotOwned Which is an inevitable fact, it is simply unreasonable to expect 100% of people to be on the same page for a variety of reasons Understanding that, caring even a little for those people that for whatever reason end up blue, means blue is the better choice as it saves them too

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned I'm NOT saying its wrong to save people, you admit to yourself you have to save them because some people do the WRONG choice and choose Blue, thus forcing others to Choose Blue too. No one willingly takes blue unless they are worried an idiot/confused person took blue too.

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned Listen to yourself "Because I know not 100% of people will choose red, I will choose the Blue option and risk my life to save the people that didn't choose red by accident." Blue is taken because it was the wrong choice untill it reaches the arbitrary % where it becomes right.

@Rothide @ImNotOwned What do you mean it wouldn't be necessary if people chose red, if people chose red 100% red would be necessary to save everyone instead of merely 50.01% blue The best case scenario is either everyone red, or majority blue, the second is obviously easier

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned The best answer is Red. If everyone chose it, you get the blue result, but Blue only works because you believe people mistakenly chose Blue. You and a majority must choose blue. But it wouldn't be necessary if people chose red. Vice versa there is not a garantee 50.01 chose blue

@Gyrvatr @ImNotOwned But the only reason your picking blue is because you believe other people would pick blue because they don't or can't understand why picking red saves them, thus you have to choose blue to save those people that would have picked red if they were fully able to comprehend it.

Retards press red out of selfishness. Midwits press blue out of reckless illogical selflessness. Smart people press red because they assume everyone is smart as they are. Wise people press blue because they know other blue pressers are a majority. Solved.

@plasmarob The issue I find is that both sides are still saying "Red is the Correct Choice, Blue is voting blue to save the people that didn't choose red, and thus made the Incorrect Choice. Red is just voting for what they logically agreed was the best choice.

The red button advocates really do seem like morally inferior people Many say I'm signalling virtue I happen to think my view is more virtuous, and there is no actual praxis here so what is the problem? I do donate a substantial amount to the poor Find virtue i guess

@TylerGlaiel Interestingly though, both sides rationalize that Red is the Correct choice, just that those voting blue are doing it because they believe children/infirm/uncognizant will choose blue by random and thus must fix it by choosing blue as well. Both agree though that Red is correct.

@ImNotOwned @TheLastNeocon People choosing red or blue are not voting in the same Theoretical Universe as the vote. People choosing red believe everyone understands the vote and understands what each button does, People choosing blue believe because people could choose the wrong choice and must fix it.
