@joekonrad I feel you on this one, Joe. So many of us were trained to be "snipers": one shot, one kill. Super proud of our hit rate. Feels like Taleb's Black Swan, rise of crypto, etc, really opened a lot of our eyes to that Portfolio of Small Bets idea

@KenPaulCarroll I loved what Ray Dalio said about "believability". Have they actually done it repeatedly? Can they explain how they did it? I appreciate "believability", because now I don't have to listen to half the stuff I hear. And I don't have to say half the stuff I want to.

Self-awareness is the foundation of self-improvement. That means when we strive to learn something new, we need to take stock of our thought patterns as much as our competence. Because you’ll always be holding yourself back if you think you’re not competent, capable, etc.

@mattriback How are you going to test how well you argue? I got so much out of John Gottman's ideas about arguing and marriage that I think transfer really well to career contexts

@robertfunston I always found meditation quite challenging, and just recently a guy named Adam told me: just start with breathwork with no meditation. That made it so much easier for me to get into a good habit

I've never thought I needed meditation. But all my biggest influences do it. Maybe I'll give it a shot. How do YOU do it?

Writing 101 Always think about your readers. Even when sharing about yourself. -What will they learn? -Why should they care? -How will it inspire them? Relatability inspires action. If people don’t FEEL they won’t DO.

@thatroblennon Ahahaha, I don't know why so many people insist that we have to "live in the moment". The ability to defer gratification is one of the markers of happy and high-functioning adults. We only have to see the follow-up of the kids from Walter Mischel's "marshmallow" study.

Dopamine in the brain is high when you set a goal. And it's high when you can see you're going to hit the goal. In the middle though. That's work. That's the dip. This is why you have to focus on the behaviors that drive the desired outcome. Behaviors > Goals
