How bros do Twitter: Platitude Brag Shitpost Another platitude Dumb list Stupid overpromise The better way: Teach Meaningful social proof Shitpost Valuable list Realistic promise with caveat that one size never, ever, fits all Moral of the story: always shitpost 😉

@mattriback The multitude of possibilities is exciting, but on the other hand somewhat overwhelming.

@Zbijelic Life is too short to not do things authentically, in a way you’re proud of… love it Zlatko!

After Google acquired my company, it took 6 months to launch a new feature that previously took a week with three founders in a small apartment. When you're just starting out you have a massive advantage over big companies. Small is nimble. Small is fast.

@DSaience Great advice. Been leaning into “be yourself” a lot lately. Thank you!

The biggest mistake I see entrepreneurs making is keeping distance to their future customers. If you feel uncomfortable talking to customers start there, don't spent time on developing things until you have.

@KarstenStryger This is a great point I haven’t considered as much. I think my first enterprise sales probably saw me trying to come off as “polished”, knew I wasn’t, but liked us enough anyway to keep going lol. Would love to learn more sometime about applying this framework for early sales

@mattriback You can do almost the same analogy with b2b-customers. Early buyers know you're clueless but love to see you trying. If you genuinely try to solve the mistakes you have gotten yourself into, they will be very patient.

First, the universe will whisper to you... Then it will scream... Then it will whack you over the head Learn to hear the signs early so you don't end up too battered and bruised :)

@mattriback 1000%. As an investor I love hearing founders honestly sharing the hard stuff. When founders hide the challenges, competitors, missing numbers... and only show the highlights, it feels like I'm being 'sold' and I lose trust. It's surprising how easy this is to sniff out.

@CodeYourWings And your 40s and 50s :) young founders get the headlines, but I believe the most successful statistically tend to be at least 30+

I can't think of a bigger modern day wealth or super power than a MASSIVE PROFESSIONAL NETWORK. It is a true unfair advantage and I encourage all young professionals to invest in it day 0 of their career and EVERY SINGLE DAY!

@KenPaulCarroll Yeah great point. Both can be true at once. Also “hypothesis” really is the key word— it implies conviction/intentionality, but not arrogance.

@mattriback Agreed, Matt I think it's good to have an on-going hypothesis about how you intend to win in the marketplace but no-one should act as if they have it all figured out

I feel like the pendulum has swung so far on “how to market to Gen Z” that a lot of brands are just corny now

@mattriback So many! High level takeaway - There’s few things more special than women supporting women in an industry with so few women. Felt v empowered meeting these women IRL Practical takeaway - The importance of thoughtful portfolio construction so you can absolutely return the fund
