California reports an increase in COVID positivity to 0.76% statewide, rising in both SoCal, and Northern CA.
COVID hospitalizations since ~July 1 are still higher than Influenza for the season.

@TrentTelenko In early 2024, a US Army contract was awarded for 600 Coyote Block 2C interceptors for about $120,000 per interceptor. Shahed-136 drones cost between $20,000 and $50,000 per unit. Ukraine’s Geran-2 drone costs closer to $80,000.

@maolesen @dummybrainy Mike, if they don’t actually read the medical literature, they will never get it. Furthermore, most people will not freely disclose chronic health issues, so we will never know the full extent of post-viral sequelae.

@dummybrainy So possibly many infections. Pretty stupid if you ask me. The occult damage will catch up with your "best shape of your life." The telomere damage alone is estimated to shorten lifespan by almost 5 years due to cell senescence. Have fun with all of that.

@RealAirPower1 @clashreport This is definitely not good. But somebody was thinking ahead by sending a squadron of E-2D Advanced Hawkeye, with their APY-9, active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar to the ATO. This platform excels at scanning for low-alt drones.

@clashreport If true this is huge. The USAF operates just 17 E-3s, so the loss of even one to enemy action would amount to nearly 6% of the entire fleet. That's not just a tactical setback - it is a strategic, effectively irreplaceable loss.

So it's clear that BA.3.2 preferentially infects children, something we have never seen before in a SARS-CoV-2 variant.
Why?
The question's baffled me, but after a suggestion from Darren Martin, I think I have an explanation that makes sense.

There's not much BA.3.2 in the US yet, but the numbers are still pretty striking. Ages 0-18 are more than 5 times as common in BA.3.2 sequences as in non-BA.3.2 sequences. USA, 2026, Feb 1 to present (Mar 23), non-travel non-BA.3.2, 139/1172 (11.9%) BA.3.2 26/41 (63.4%)

My mom made a surprise trip to visit me at the end of basic training at the Air Force Academy. We only had a few minutes. She gave me a hug and snuck some candy bars in my pockets and said she was proud. 26 years ago. But I remember it every day.

Stealth is extremely good, but there are systems still aimed by eyeball & with enough rounds in the air, eventually you’ll fly into one of them.
I wouldn’t read too much into this.

An F-35A/B Lightning ll made an emergency landing at a U.S. air base in the Middle East this week, after it was struck by what is believed to be Iranian surface-to-air fire, according to two sources familiar with the matter who spoke to CNN. Capt. Tim Hawkins, a Spokesman for U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), said the fifth-generation stealth jet was “flying a combat mission over Iran” when it was forced to make an emergency landing at a base in the Middle East. “The aircraft landed safely, and the pilot is in stable condition,” Hawkins added. “This incident is under investigation.”
