For the first time in almost 10 years, UCLA is doing above the bare minimum in football recruiting and it’s beating top programs like Michigan, Texas, Ohio State, etc. multiple times in one week. Any sane UCLA fan knew this was always the actual standard. Much more to come.

Cal and Stanford panicked and joined a conference on the other side of the country and will make less money than if they had stayed. They are getting $9-$10 million a year from media rights after agreeing to a 1/3rd share for 10 years. Pac 12 deal north of $12 million.

Just for fun. What could a new top tier of college athletics look like if the SEC went their own way and the Big Ten went their own way? I expect disagreement to the schools I listed and that is ok. This isn't anything formal and not a model proposal. Just some quick $0.02 type of thinking. I'm assuming the SEC would add Virginia, Virgnia Tech, NC State, Clemson, North Carolina and Duke. That gives political cover in the states of Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. I'm also assuming that Oklahoma and Texas would prefer to be in an open market. I know Oklahoma isn't what you would call a "rich school" but they are always "hey daddy Texas, tell us what to do"school." In a true open market for player payments (rev share and NIL with no cap), Cal and Stanford would be obvious additions. I put in BYU and ASU to add in a presence in that are of the country. Kept all of the Big Ten schools as nobody would want to leave. Then added as southeast wing for Atlanta and Florida. No reasonable mind would argue that the city of Atlanta and the state of Florida wouldn't want a presence in the the top tier.
