@mattyglesias It’s a meme that went mega viral on Instagram. The penguin leaves his colony and “heads for the mountains” and people joke that they can relate.
Because this administration is terminally online, they wanted to jump on the viral meme trend (but did so in a lazy/hacky way).

@MattZeitlin If you ask favorability for Meta it’s 52% fav / 41% unfav / 8% don’t know, a net fav of +11. Across ~52 politicians we track nationally the average is -4.5 and the max is ~+5. if Meta was an elected official it’d be the most popular elected official by a lot!

Trump: He wants to see no crime. He wants to see housing being built. He wants to see rents coming down. All the things that I agree with. We may disagree how we get there, the rent coming down, I think one of the things I really gleaned very much today, he'd like it see them come down, but building a lot of additional housing—that's the ultimate way. He agrees with that and so do I. When you read the newspapers, you don’t see that.

Not only do corporate landlords own only a tiny sliver of the U.S. housing stock, but they usually seem to *lower* rents instead of raising them.

Not a single top performing public transit system in the world is free.
The purpose of a nominal fare with strict enforcement beyond operational revenue is that it’s a very simple and effective filter for antisocial behavior that makes public transit unpleasant and unsafe.

We do need Amazon jobs, for both the economy and also for tax revenue for priorities progressives like Wilson want to pursue like transit expansion and a greater safety net.
A Seattle mayor should be laser focused on keeping and growing Amazon's presence.
