Dr. Bhakti Yadav was the 1st female MBBS doctor from Indore. She was the only woman in the first batch of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College in 1948. She was selected for many jobs, but she turned them down towards fulfilling her life's purpose. She started treating the wives of poor cloth mill workers at the Nandlal Bhandari Maternity Home. For ~70 years, she provided free or extremely low-cost medical treatment to underprivileged women. It is estimated that she delivered over 1.5 lakh babies during her career. She was awarded the Padma Shri in 2017. She passed away in 2018. What an purposeful life !
