“The National security paradigm has moved to H1. And where are we stuck? We are stuck with L1. L1 is a disease and it has to go” — @Gen_RajShukla We are talking about doing away with L1 & bringing bureaucratic reform even in 2026.🤦‍♂️

@Ptr6Vb Sir, came across a dtd post of yours where you offered condolences to Col Gulshan Saini on the sad demise of his mother. I understand he was my classmate in AMC Centre & School Lucknow more than 45 years ago. Is it possible to get his X handle or any other social media contact

#WATCH | Delhi: At the Synergia Conclave, Lieutenant General Vipul Shinghal, AVSM, SM, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Doctrine, Organisation, and Training), says, "...Even when I operate an AI system, I understand how to use it, but I don’t know what manipulation of data is happening... Where we have control and where we are also focusing is that our commanders, who earlier were only dealing with troops and making decisions based on that, are now dealing with algorithms and systems... they must have the ability to question machine outputs... These aspects are being debated worldwide... India itself has recently lost any regulation after the AI summit, and we are part of these discussions. The consensus is hard, but it is building..." He adds, "Meaningful human control is another aspect that is taking shape. Meaningful human control means that commanders must be able to access control meaningfully, and for that, they require 4 inputs or rather 4 levers: sufficient situational awareness... adequate time and information... And the ability to override or intervene... if they understand its limitations, we will be able to, at least in systems of the armed forces and weapons systems, ensure that we use AI for user responsibility. The moral responsibility must remain with the commander, and our conscience must keep that in place... In the Indian context, we have always believed that Shakti must go hand in hand with Dharma, that this force must go hand in hand with righteousness..." (11.03)

For Chushul only, I've spoken with more than 50 veterans/families! After 6 decades this is a decent number I believe.

@AnchitGupta9 Yes recollect that as a child. I was singularly fortunate and honoured to lay a wreath in a solemn ceremony held at Generals Memorial, Poonch ( where the helicopter crashed) on 22 Nov 2007 and 2008 as the GOC Ace of Spades Division.

May I request you to refrain from posting such baseless comments on a former Chief of the Indian Army. We recaptured the Kargil heights under his leadership. The int failure was at the strategic level. The army resource and role was and is limited to operational and tactical int.

The worlds biggest oil choke point is NOT Straits of Hormuz but the Straits of Malacca. ( see graphic : Courtesy Visual Capitalist, data from EIA, Data H1 2025) The Iranian Navy & its military controls the Hormuz , the impact of which is being felt globally today. The US wants to controls the Panama Canal, another oil choke point. The Egyptians wrested control of the Suez Canal from the Brits & now have a huge leverage in controlling the entry of oil into the Mediterranean. The Indian Navy & its military controls the entry/ exit to Straits of Malacca. Time to draw up our plans to leverage this huge global vulnerability to deter any threats to our soverignity & integrity. @adgpi @indiannavy @IAF_MCC @HQ_IDS_India @nmfindia @ANI

1. US sinking of IRIS Dena marks extension of West Asia war to Indian Ocean. Reminds me of Op Cactus (Maldives) in Nov 1988. Maldives Govt desperately wanted mil help. When we were discussing our response & plans in Ops Room, FS KPS Menon received a tele call.

Yes sir, we executed Op successfully on our own. On 04 Nov 1988 afternoon ( after we had accomplished the mission), I got a call at Male from COO of US Task force that if we wanted any help they were three hours away. I thanked & told him that mission successful -Not required.
Ved Malik@Vedmalik1

3. We declined US help. Completed msn successfully in 36 hrs. The IRIS Dena incident shows that in strategic partnership, US now believes it need not consult partners when using its mil forces in the region.
