@ShaesForehead @BCCuda @vcbacknblack They won't even need a warrant, because you will be in the act of committing a crime as of nov 1 12:00:01 for possession of a prohibited device. Warrants are not required if the crime is in progress.

Just a reminder to all Canadian people with an RPAL. There’s no specific Criminal Code section saying you must answer the door for the RCMP. Without a warrant, they can’t enter, so you have the right to stay quiet, keep the door shut, and request they leave if no warrant is provided.

@Bobdole699 @Winsleydale @BCCuda @IanRunkle I’m not saying they will do it or pretending to understand how the logistics would work. I’m saying that these are thing that are possible. Gary already said they’re planning on using retired police officers for this gun grab. They will find the resources.

@ShaesForehead @Winsleydale @BCCuda @IanRunkle Dude there’s no fucking chance in hell the military assists. Imagine a deputized civilian going door to door with a couple 19 year old privates armed with AR15’s? The military doesn’t train you how to conduct these operations. The military teaches you how to kill.

@Winsleydale @Bobdole699 @BCCuda @IanRunkle I wasn’t clear. I didn’t mean military would conduct any search or execute a warrant. That authority relies solely with police. I was saying that in reference to the lack of tactical resources to execute a high-risk warrant. Could military be called to assist tactically? Possibly

You literally said this: "Legal framework exists to have military or other civilian agencies to act as agents of the police during the execution of a search warrant." There is no provision in the CCC that allows anyone to "act as agents of the police" with authority to execute a search warrant. Assistance is not the same as agency. Police can receive logistical/specialist assistance during execution. s. 487.02 allows a judge to order a person to provide reasonable help to give effect to the warrant. But that assistance is strictly under the direction police and it doesn't turn assistants into "agents" who can independently search premises or seize evidence. Military or broad civilian agencies cannot be casually deputized this way for police Warrants. The warrant is directed to police, and any help they get doesn't expand powers or create new "agents". The role of the military in assisting police is strictly regulated in military and civil law and always reflects "aid to civil power". You overstate your case and confuse agency with assistance.

@Winsleydale @Bobdole699 @BCCuda @IanRunkle It’s right at the top of the Criminal Code Form 5: “To peace officers in said jurisdiction or named public offixers”. That allows a police officer to name a civilian or civilian agency to assist in the execution of a search warrant. Crack open the code and have a look.

@Bobdole699 @Winsleydale @BCCuda @IanRunkle Legal framework exists to have military or other civilian agencies to act as agents of the police during the execution of a search warrant. Not saying it will happen, but like I said elsewhere in this thread, it is absolutely possible.

@ShaesForehead @Winsleydale @BCCuda @IanRunkle Dale is correct in identifying which unit would conduct entry. As I’ve stated several times in this thread, there isn’t a service in this country with the required manpower or resources to conduct this.

@Winsleydale @BCCuda @IanRunkle If anyone believes they’ll send tactical for thousands of warrants they’d require to do this, you’re on drugs.

@vcbacknblack @BCCuda I agree. All I want people to understand is that it’s technically possible. And an embarrassed government looking to prove a point is worrisome.

@BCCuda @vcbacknblack If they were restricted prior to the start of the buyback program, then yes the government knows what you have and you have likely already received letters from them.

@vcbacknblack @BCCuda You’re right, the actual execution of these warrants would be a whole other conversation. All I am saying is that anyone with experience writing a paper could knock out a public safety warrant like this without issue.

@vcbacknblack @BCCuda Fair enough. But we aren’t talking about an investigation with multiple papers and extensive sourcing. This is a simple public safety warrant where all the sourcing required is available with a CPIC query.

@vcbacknblack @BCCuda I can tell you from personal experience that it is that easy, especially for something like this. Read section 117.04 of the Criminal Code. I would imagine that if a legitimate gun grab happens, that will be the section used, with or without warrant.

@BCCuda @vcbacknblack I am by no means pro-buyback. But that is an extremely easy warrant to write and obtain. A person has an RPAL, shows that they own these firearms, and that these firearms are illegal. Short lines to draw to articulate reasonable grounds. Criminal history is irrelevant.

Sarnia Police@SarniaPolice·
On February 26 at 4:50pm, an alert patrol officer observed a suspicious group of four individuals behind a commercial property in the area of Exmouth Street and East Street in the City of Sarnia. The officer recognized one individual and knew there to be warrants for her arrest on multiple charges.  The officer turned his cruiser around and drove back to investigate.  Upon entering into the parking lot, the other three parties had appeared to be dispersing from the area. The officer viewed the known female now running north at her best speed. She was carrying a purse and a fabric type bag. The officer immediately exited his cruiser to give chase on foot. While running the female discarded her bags in an attempt to evade police, however the officer was able to catch up and place her under arrest. The female was combative and physically resistant with police, but was taken into custody without significant incident. Police retrieved the bags the suspect has attempted to discard. A search revealed ID in her name, along with 64 grams of Crystal Methamphetamine and drug trafficking paraphernalia (e.g. scale, packaging). Also located in the back was a single round of handgun ammunition, although no firearm was located. Laura CHESNEY, 33 years of no fixed address, was held for bail. @princess5166 @SarniaPolice Lot to unpack in this brain dead tweet. Yea, the person who held two people at gunpoint is the victim, because taxes aren’t high enough. Not the actual victims who will be impacted by this for the rest of their lives. Absolute bottom of the barrel take.

@sarnianewstoday "I think tents would be too cold in the winter" You know these people are going to stay in tents regardless right? At least in a designated area wellness checks can be performed and warnings about extreme weather issued.

@davidgmac9 @briansendtweet @SarniaPolice Sarnia Police thanks for starting things up but detective MacDonald is going to take over from here. He watched all the seasons of CSI Miami and is ready to complete the investigation based off what he read on Twitter.
