Idag fick vi beskedet att Skatteverkets generaldirektör Katrin Westling Palm lämnar sin post i förtid, fått sparken helt enkelt. Samtidigt vet vi att hon och två andra toppchefer utreds för ytterst allvarliga brott mot tystnadsplikten – ett mycket allvarligt brott som kan ge fängelse. Detta är inte småsaker. Det handlar om hantering av sekretessbelagd information i en av Sveriges mest känsliga myndigheter. Är man skäligen misstänkt för sådana brott och dessutom har högsta säkerhetsklassning, då är det en direkt risk för rikets säkerhet att ens vara kvar i tjänst. Generaldirektören ska omedelbart skiljas från sin tjänst (ingen mellanlandning på regeringskansliet) och fråntas sin säkerhetsklassning. Jag ser på X att vi är många som hyllar @kvartalet senaste upplägg för partiledarsamtal. Jimmie Åkesson och hans gäst Simona Mohamsson var först ut. Det som lyfts fram är egentligen något så grundläggande som att samtalet fick vara just ett samtal: brett, sammanhängande och utan den vanliga hetsiga avbrytarkulturen. Journalisterna höll en sansad nivå och lät resonemangen ta plats. Visst är det positivt för Kvartal att detta uppskattas. Men framför allt är det ett underbetyg för övriga svenska medier. Att något så pass elementärt framstår som nytänkande säger en hel del om hur torftigt och enkelspårigt det politiska samtalet har blivit.

Iran builds more drones in a single week than the United States builds interceptors in an entire year. Every interceptor fired in the Gulf is one that cannot be delivered to Switzerland, Ukraine, Taiwan, Japan, or Poland. The State Department warned allies on March 27 that Patriot deliveries to Ukraine would face disruptions as the Pentagon prioritises Iran per Quiver Quantitative. Senator Chris Murphy said on record: “We’ve been told again and again one reason we can’t provide interceptors for the Patriot system for Ukraine is that they’re in short supply.” Lockheed signed a framework to quadruple production to 2,000 units per year. That capacity will not arrive for six to seven years. The Pentagon has asked Congress to shift $1.5 billion from other programmes to accelerate procurement per Bloomberg. None of this helps now. The interceptors are depleting now. The allied accounts are being raided now. Switzerland is considering reducing its F-35 order from 36 to 30 jets and accelerating evaluation of European alternatives per Bluewin and Global Defense Corp. Swiss parliamentarians have called the redirection “an unacceptable violation of procurement sovereignty.” The Swiss parliament is preparing formal hearings. Switzerland is the canary. A neutral country with two centuries of armed neutrality just had its fighter jet money taken without consent to feed a four-week-old war that burns 18 months of interceptor production every 96 hours. Det säger en hel del att inga muslimska samfund har gjort något uttalande om att mer än 30 000 iranier mördades under två dagar. Det här är samma samfund som ständigt protesterar mot koranbränningar och Israels rätt att försvara sig. Men när en islamistisk regim mördar människor som kämpar för demokrati och frihet är de knäpptysta. Sedan har vi också vissa av dessa moskéer som öppet eller implicit stödjer regimen i Iran. Det finns knappast en enda moské som förhåller sig neutral i Israel–Palestina-konflikten. Jag redogör för detta så att ingen ska tro att dessa institutioner är politiskt neutrala. De är inte bara partiska, utan i deras värld är palestinska liv mer värda än iranska och israeliska liv. Nu ser vi det tydligare än någonsin. Hur kommer det sig att muslimska samfund aldrig protesterar mot islamistiska övergrepp?
