@PulmCrit Look at the ingredients. Many feeds contain glucose syrup including diabetic formulas. Hyperglycemia can often resolve with a switch to food-based feeds like Compleat or Kate Farms

ICU nutrition nerds - I have a simple & maybe dumb question. if a patient on enteral tube feeds is developing severe hyperglycemia, why don't we do more to reduce their carbohydrate intake? with supplemental modules (eg MCT oil, protein packets), cutting carbs is *easy*

This may be my most important clinical intervention this week: Cutting inch-long toenails. Better postural stability, reduced falls risk, patient satisfaction. Just disappointing to hear that no other ward staff member “allowed” to do it due to “policy” (there’s no policy btw)

Research has found that low brain iron impacts several brain systems, including the dopamine system. Dopamine levels vary throughout the day and follow a circadian rhythm; dopamine levels are lower at night than during the day. This may increase the severity of RLS symptoms. #RLS
