Lately, I've become increasingly convinced that keeping at least part of your deposit in stablecoins is a must-do decision that will help preserve both your deposit and your mental health. But aside from that, I always try to ensure that my assets are working and generating income, regardless of the form it takes. A lot of people think DeFi is completely trustless, but that’s not true. This is one key takeaway for the entire DeFi ecosystem from Drift protocol situation @ben_solstice explains how DeFi is a spectrum of minimized trust, on the 23.5 Degrees livestream. Some protocols are closer to fully decentralized, while others still heavily rely on human control (multisigs, admin keys, no timelocks etc). Most people get it wrong because they assume the risk is only the tech, but in reality, there is also governance and control risk. A standard checklist is necessary to keep users informed about the risks and understand the protections in place.
