@BowesChay What would the US do if a European military aircraft flew over your airspace ?

As US military Aircraft are forced to "fly around" European airspace to Iran- What would those European countries (and NATO Allies") do exactly, if the Americans just flew over them anyway? Think about it.

@jasonc_nc @ecofishsex Two different towns that I have lived in they even bulldozed the mom and pop to put up their ugly building. While they don't own the buildings they do have contracts with developers to build to their own specs then lease the building under favorable terms....

Jason,

@ecofishsex Everyone is living in some imaginary version of Americana where living in the middle of nowhere also included a local grocer and butchery in a rural crossroads.
Jason,@jasonc_nc

@Rope3582 See everyone says this but in the cases I’m speaking of there was ~nothing~ there before. It’s a nostalgic belief that every place a dollar general opened there was once a cute little general store and butchery ran by a pleasant older couple.

@KuhlmannBill @AntiLeftMemes That is not federal just your shitty state. The federal requirement is a background check that requires proof of state residence

You have to show an ID to purchase a gun. “A state permit is required to purchase any firearm, and you must be 21 years old to acquire a permit. A person who wants to purchase a handgun or long gun from a private individual must first obtain a permit to acquire the ownership of a firearm, which requires a background check of the applicant.”

@dnwiebe @jondelarroz They had that one belter being tortured. That about nailed it. Kind of hard to nail that one on regular characters without going full cgi and prosthetics. I do wish we had more weightlessness though. At least they made a point of everyone wearing magnetic boots.

@jondelarroz The books were good, at least toward the beginning of the series. The TV series wasn't as good, but mostly because they didn't have a big enough budget. For example, there was no weightlessness, and Belters are supposed to be freakishly tall and skinny.

I saw a listicle that showed The Expanse as one of the best sci-fi series of all time. I never watched it because the authors joined a cancel mob against me and were pricks. Is it actually that good?

@NotInte45686760 @jondelarroz Does your 2nd watch hold up? I am on my second (third for season 1) and am starting to see the flaws. I think the visuals and the hard sci-fi angle blinded me to some of it. That and I listened to the audio books in between, the books are way better.

@andrew_nenakhov @jondelarroz I think some of that was character building. The main characters were thrown together by fate and not by choice, that leaves you with a crew that are not friends. Contrast that with shows like serenity where the crew had loyalties and were there because they wanted to be.

@jondelarroz Main cast is rather meh with poor chemistry (with the possible exception of Amos), but many secondary characters steal the show.

@ScorpiusLord @jondelarroz Sci-fy. Had some great writers back in the day. Then that biatch took it over and feels like they were forced out. I hate that series have great source material but (established novels) but insist on drastic changes. Some main characters are not meant to be likable...

@jondelarroz I thought it was pretty good while Sci-Fi had it, Seasons 1 through 3. After Amazon picked it up for the remaining Seasons, I didn't think it was that great. Usually when I decide to rewatch it, I generally stop at the end of Season 3.

@Torrent_Of_Pork @jondelarroz Me too, I finally settled "forced ignorance" When some wokeness does break through I just try to ignore it. As long as the story is good I'll watch. The girl boss stuff and dei in the show while annoying, was done fairly well and fit most of the characters.

@jondelarroz I really enjoyed both the books, and the early seasons of the show. Shame to find this out about the authors. I miss the time when I didn't know anything about the people making my entertainment.

@TheHippyOfDeath @jondelarroz I found the audiobooks a great middle ground, you still get the audio clues of some of the action (different types of voices, etc. I think it had sound effects too, but I might have filled those in my head) but you also get the story as written.

@jondelarroz The series is definitely awesome. The books are even better. Couldn't put them down. Well worth watching and reading. I don't know if the authors are bad people or not, and that's how I like my entertainment, TBH.

@theastralape @GPAIndiana You do not realize the scope of gun culture in the US. Just since 2020 there have been apx 15M/yr new guns of all type purchased, about 50% being similar auto handguns, 25% sporting rifles, the balance being single shot rifles/shotguns or revolvers. You cant legislate them away

How about the fact that if there were proper gun control in the USA, the gunman would not have been able to get hold of a gun in the first place in order to kill 28 people? Perhaps that’s why you don’t see mass shootings like this in other countries that do have proper gun control?

@d_karlie82362 @theastralape @GPAIndiana As a teen I made a workable .22 Granted it was single shot (I was working on a feed mechanism, but it was simple to load and fairly accurate to about 5 yards, accurate enough to 10. I gave no thought to gun laws (I am guessing it was legal in AZ around 1983).

@theastralape @GPAIndiana Yes because people hell bent on murdering a room full of people wouldn’t be able to find a gun because he turned his in to the government GTFO of here. Exactly what gun legislation would have prevented this? We will wait 🤔

@BU6BRAIN @billiceberg @JeffreyLuscombe I prefer trucks even though I don't work in the trades... I honestly gave a suv a try, I do most of my own home maintenance that involves hauling lumber, dirt, plants, etc a truck is just easier to deal with. I also like traveling the back roads, off pavement if possible

@billiceberg @JeffreyLuscombe Pretty much. I see so many “work” trucks but nary any work being done with them. I like to call them pavement princesses. At this point it’s the goto choice for people who like to larp as handymen or construction workers lol.

@StevendeBeer76 @KhalidAlMans_ They actually have tested a nuclear excavation device. From what I hear even that won't actually destroy it In nuclear fire, but it WOULD shatter the granite tunnels requiring a massive effort to dig out probably years unless you have a slave labor population you don't care about

@Fat_Electrician your right maybe age based reason is not quite accurate. it is for people that are not able work "normal" jobs so the work is less hours, more flexibility, and generally a lower skill level req. That also fits older folks (on SS for instance) that cant work a full time job

I fucking hate the “minimum wage is for high schoolers” talking point. A. No it isn’t, that’s historically inaccurate. B. Telling a kid to work hard and earn money the “right” way, then turning around and saying he deserves less just because of his age is bullshit. Pay should be based on performance. Nothing else. If you’re against raising the minimum wage, that’s fine. Make a better argument that isn’t belittling kids trying to work hard and earn something for themselves.

@sharyns915 @slimshaddy71 Almost anytime the military does something security related it is due to an issue Intel has deemed a real threat, most of the time the public, including the media, has no clue of the threat.

@slimshaddy71 Cyberattacks are probably a daily threat from several countries and terrorist groups. Probably twice a day. I doubt they are being overlooked. Doesn't mean it will never happen. I just have a feeling they are aware of threats

🚨 OMG. President Trump is TOYING with them now 😭 REPORTER: Iran threatened US tech companies TRUMP: With WHAT? What did they threaten them with? BB guns? They don't have much left to threaten. 😂 REPORTER: My question for you is— TRUMP: YOU made a statement. What did they threaten them with? I don't know. Tell me. How did they threaten them? REPORTER: All I know is that they threatened them, sir TRUMP: What does that mean? REPORTER: Fair enough TRUMP: They said something nasty? REPORTER: Are you helping the companies? TRUMP: You don't even know what the threat WAS! What was the threat? I haven't heard it. What was the threat? Did they say they're going to blow them up? You know what they're not going to do? They're not going to hit them with a nuclear weapon! 🔥🔥🔥
