@chrisvanswaay Just curious, what location is being represented here in the graph? Are these European populations?

Trend in distribution ≠ trend in population. The graph shows how the Common Blue (P icarus, icarusblauwtje) expanded in NL (occupancy is rising), but population declined >50% since 1990 on Dutch Butterfly Monitoring transects.

In a world-first, an international team of scientists demonstrated that Painted Lady butterflies (Vanessa cardui) flew at least 4,200 km over the ocean from West Africa to French Guiana, South America.
