You get your ass kicked in jiu jitsu enough you actually start to figure things out. It’s supposed to be hard. That’s why most people don’t do this martial art. But trust me, if you can stay calm while you can’t hear because your head is stuck in your partners gi jacket, you taste blood (hopefully it’s yours), you have mat burn on your toes, and your old shoulder injury is acting up again mid roll, well heck that’s half the battle! This means you’re going to make it. This means you’re going to last.

Some of my favorite people in Jiu-Jitsu are the people who used to work normal jobs and have normal careers but gave it all up to chase their dream. They have a perspective that is grounded by a taste for a boring reality they used to live. A lot of pro competitors lack gratitude for just how unique their position is. They’re so results-driven that they forget that they’re living a cool experience. But hearing a guy who’s pushing 40 say “this made me love life again” puts things into perspective for me. That gratitude is contagious if you let it be.

I get why people like the album but it’s not for me. I listened to it on YouTube to figure out if I wanted to buy a copy since it isn’t on streaming. I just wasn’t a fan. Same with Wyatt’s new song idk why that’s such a bad thing to say though?

@Strider5000 Interesting. Glad it works for you though. For butterfly, I never go straight on. I always angle so they can't just flatten my posture & pass. My most common is.. Angle 45⁰ w/forearm frame > their opposite arm frames in > shift my hips to same side est > underhook/crunch

Octopus guard has totally changed my jiu jitsu game for the better. 🐙 (for my 3 jiu jitsu followers on twitter)

@TheKro16 I've been trying to get good at butterfly actually but it hasn't quite happened yet. Octopus really clicked for me though. I use it from bottom half, bottom side, everywhere I can and it almost always works. Might just be my orangutan arms.
