Fisheye bends lines—it can’t turn a flat Earth into a spinning globe.

It's official. Midnight BSD is the first Open Source Operating System to ship with some type of Age Verification by default.
Version 4.0.4 is now available, and includes their new "aged" system wide daemon for Age Attestation / Verification.

It looks like Midnight BSD (a FreeBSD fork) may be the first Open Source Operating System to fully implement Age Verification (or Age Attestation) to comply with new laws. “We’re planning to release [MidnightBSD] 4.0.4 soon. This version will include the aged and agectl programs.” The MidnightBSD developers have created a new, system daemon to handle the age of the user accounts, along with multiple ways for developers to query the user’s age. This new “Age Daemon” can be disabled by setting a system flag in the terminal, but appears to be turned on by default.

On April 1, 2026, (tomorrow) Canadians will face a 2% federal excise tax increase on beer, wine, and other alcohol. The industrial carbon tax is set to rise 16%, which will also raise consumer prices and federal payroll taxes for CPP and EI will increase.
Fortunately we can rest easy knowing that on the same day Mark Carney is getting a $17,600 dollar increase & all Federal MP’s are receiving an $8800 increase & Ministers are receiving a $13000 thousand dollar increase.
