My sister Hadiza Bala Usman is trying her best to ensure that policy announcements are verified and coordinated before they are made but it is a bit like herding cats.
That was how one former Minister woke up one day to announce that the government was banning the importation of solar panels. It wasn’t cleared by anyone and the Minister was obviously not aware that a few days later, it would be announced that the Villa was spending billions on imported solar panels.
The public should be able to trust an announcement made by an official government spokesperson. Things like this erode public confidence in government officials. We need to do better.

Clean principle but why do you guys never apply this universally? Why is the logic applied to famous people and suspended everywhere else?
You have an online business, you employ a social media manager and pay them 100k. Check your cupboard, you will find three cockroaches already breeding in there.
You are a content creator, you hire a video editor and pay them minimum wage while you take home x10 of that monthly. The logic suddenly stops where the social cost of applying it begins.
This author almost certainly consumes goods and services produced by undercompensated labour. Their phone was assembled in conditions that would fail every standard their argument implies. Their clothes were likely sewn in supply chains where the gap between labour value and retail price is exponentially wider than anything in publishing. Their food was probably grown or processed by workers whose compensation relative to value produced is among the worst in any industry on earth.
By their own framework, every purchase they have made within global capitalism has implicated them in the same extraction they are condemning.
And if you wish to use scale as a moral alibi, it cannot be made without conceding that moderate surplus extraction is acceptable — which undermines your original claim entirely.

This example has always felt intellectually thin to me when the obvious answer is the value chain. It is accumulated through a system in which many people, often invisibly, are undercompensated relative to the value they produce. Even the average person has an intuitive sense of this when it comes to publishing. The romantic image of the lone author obscures the layered ecosystem behind a book: editors, publicists, marketers, designers, printers. And if we move to her franchise films, the logic still applies . Film production is a dense labour network. From set designers to VFX artists to crew members working long hours, the majority do not see anything close to the scale of value their labour helps generate. The concentration of wealth at the top then gets reframed as ethical, as though it exists outside of these conditions.
