Curtis might be the most chill guy on the roster, if Josh Hokit did this to Gane or WCA or Kuniev it would go over a bit better.

the current state of the ufc is almost unwatchable - ai slop promo - lazy fight announcements via dana on ig live (zero hype) - shit commentary, uneducated on the fights a lot of the time - boring ass press conferences - rankings hold zero merit - shit fighter pay, have fighters like vallejos jumping up and down over a weak bonus - awful matchmaking - dana and some fighters bending over for trump

@EvilBeaver0 @TaylorJohn41431 125ers, unfortunately, don't seem to sell well despite having some of the most skilled and high paced fights. DJ was absolutely incredible to watch but somehow never translated to numbers. I'm just surprised there isn't more support for Taira by comparison, that's all.

@MMA_HTT I'm surprised that's the case, especially since Taira is favored to win and would be the first Japanese UFC champion. His win over Alex Perez where he forced him to one leg to finish him from the back body triangle was incredibly impressive. He was like the jockey from L4D2.

@yas_kawamura I did see the finish of this fight on social media, I think this card was on the same weekend as UFC 326 and I saw some highlights. Seeing the entire fight, wow, what a performance by Akimoto. 12-1 and only 19, 20 now, and looking sharp and powerful.

@DovySimuMMA Absolutely 100%. It'd make the fights much more dynamic, allow more action around defending takedowns, and counter flopping/staying on back for safety or takedown 'safety' like Aljo/Yan 1. Plus allows for more ways to GNP on top for more exciting grappling. It's just better.

@yas_kawamura Thank you for sharing that fight. It was a total shutout once Sato got it to the ground. I was impressed how he used the grounded knees not just for damage, but also to secure the full mount that Sweeney never escaped from. I'm also glad the ref let it play out despite the cut.

@yas_kawamura With 10 point must, if they're ahead on the cards, it's smart to simply allow the clock to run out. With judging the fight as a whole, it's smarter to try to blitz at the end to impress the judges and get their decision. If you can only have one, total must sounds more fun to me.

最終ラウンドにビッグ・ヒットさえすれば勝ててしまう傾向にある為、トータルマストはやや分かりにくいのは事実です。
ラウンドマストは各ラウンドを取らなければならない為明確なアクションを求められますが、2ラウンド取れた場合は3ラウンドに逃げ続けても勝ててしまう問題があります。
倒す攻撃をしなくても優勢であれば良いと言う選手が現れます。
RIZINは2026年のRIZIN52からラウンドマストにトータルマストをブレンドした独自のルールを導入し、ファイトがゲーム化する問題を低減しようと試行錯誤中です。

@yas_kawamura Regarding the scoring systems, judging the fight as a whole, based on who came closest to finishing and did more damage, some may feel it's more subjective. The 10 point must systems has its own problems, but some may feel is a more objective and transparent system comparatively.

ヒクソン・グレイシーによって日本の最先端の総合格闘技が敗北し、UWFのプロレスラーがカール・ゴッチから伝わるランカシャースタイルをベースとしたテクニックで柔術に立ち向かう戦いのほとんどを若き日の私は会場で観戦してきました。
日本はMMAのポイントゲーム化を嫌う傾向があり、判定がトータルマストでサッカーキックを許可するのは「ノールールに近い戦いで誰が一番ダメージを与えたか」を重視するからです。
しかし近年はUFCや海外のプロモーションから引き抜いた海外選手が適応しやすいように、また、最近のUFCなどを見てファンになったファンのために、RIZINもラウンドマストを取り入れました。
その意味ではユニファイドルールに近いシステムに日本の主流も変わりつつあります。
ただRIZINはリングの試合とサッカーキックや4点ポジションの相手への頭部への膝蹴りは残っています。

@yas_kawamura I hope it continues to retain those aspects that make it such a unique combat sports environment. Maybe one day people will realize it's a better set of rules than the unified rules the UFC is currently subjected to, and hope one day the commissions will allow those techniques.
