I might be in the minority here but I think this is actually cool as hell. I think we should be telling new stories within these universes, using screenwriting to its full potential instead of trying to poorly adapt stories that were clearly designed for an interactive medium.

Resident Evil movie and Weapons director Zach Cregger was interviewed by The New York Times about his reboot. โช๏ธHe's already beaten RE 9 twice. โช๏ธHe is the biggest worshipper of the games, and his movie is not breaking the rules of the games. โช๏ธThis film has a much bigger budget than Weapons, and Cregger was given carte blanche to reinvent RE with this film. โช๏ธDoes not adapt to any specific story from the games, and contains no characters from any of the games.

I don't think removing the entire dimension of interactivity is going to make an interactive story more palatable. At that point you're better off just playing the games. I wanna' see this universe through a cinematic lens, with a story that's MADE to be seen through it.

This is really my issue with this entire discourse right now. I think a creator is entitled to not want to botch his work with a mediocre translation.
But bending over backwards to defend that creator, circling back to justifying xenophobia is CRAZY

Not to sound extreme but being at the point where people are believing obviously untrue accusations about the Spanish-speaking community means the racism event horizon has been crossed. Biases against groups of people have been formed.

My right to access a game supersedes your right to immersion. Accessibility options can be turned off, leaving your immersion intact. My disability cannot be switched off. Your desire to brag about beating a difficult game should not be fulfilled at the cost of people like me.
