@Author_MLWhite I write in Google Docs. It's easy, automatically backed up to the cloud, not too many bells and whistles, and makes the perfect clickable TOC. For print, I import the Word document I download from Google Docs and format it in Affinity Publisher.

I have a question for my fellow authors. What program do you use to write your books? Why do you like that program?

Resumes and CVs are stupid. To think a human being can reduce their essence into a single page document is ridiculous. You can look good on paper and suck. You can also look terrible on paper and be amazing. I will forever buck a system like this. Resumes need to die along with door-to-door sales.

A resume site was holding my friend's resume hostage. He sent me 3 screenshots. I converted them to text and recreated his resume for him in an hour. Delivered via email in Word and PDF format. #Skills

@AuthorBourgeois @sddonovan I love that you started on a typewriter. Do you still have it? I think old typewriters are such beautiful machines. I have a Royal Quiet Deluxe from the late 40s, and I LOVE it. I haven't used it for writing, but I totally would. Right now, it's just for looks. 🙂

I first started writing on a Smith-Corona portable tyepwriter. When I got my first computer, at the start of a new WIP, I did have a separate file for each chapter. But then I got used to a computer, and started making it one file. Now I use Scrivener, a British app, which allows you to separate your WIP into three sections, all of which are on screen: outline, narrative (divided into scenes), and notes, research, etc. When you move one product, they all move with it. A marvelous product. I've been using Scrivener's for more than a decade. And it is very cheap.

Serious question. When you write, do you have a separate file for each chapter (I do), or do you have one big file for the entire novel?

@sddonovan One big file. That's a big enough mess! I can't imagine having a file for each chapter.

@IAmAaronWill I use both. I'm hoping Grok will surpass ChatGPT so I can stop paying for them both, but currently...they serve different purposes.

Unpopular opinion. Chat GPT is way better than Grok.

@HDunn_Writer Not really. I've had some harsh words come my way, but it wasn't persistent. Any major issue of this type would be remedied with the BLOCK feature. I have no time for drama. None.
