🚨#BREAKING: A 13-year-old girl is being praised as a hero after she defended her mom from an abusive man, slicing him in the face with a “samurai” sword in Tennessee. The teenager was in her bedroom when she heard her mother screaming for help. When she rushed out, she says her mother’s ex-boyfriend was choking her. The young girl say she grabbed a decorative sword off the wall in an attempt to stop the attack. Deputies report the ex-boyfriend lunged toward the teen and she swung the sword slicing his face so severely, he had to be airlifted to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. The girl’s mother says she has always taught her daughter to protect herself and the people she loves. WHAT A BADASS!!!!!!!!!!

@VoteSovereign The next most pressing existential question is how do we stop the inevitable Islamification of New Zealand?

@BullBoss5 I live in Texas where it was 98 F/36 C today. In a month it'll be 115F/46C. Try living in that season without AC.

I think Americans misunderstand why AC is less common in Europe. For a lot of Europeans, comfort is not always about controlling everything artificially. It is also about opening the windows, letting air circulate, using shutters, living with the seasons, and keeping life simple. It is not necessarily backward. It is just a different relationship with comfort, energy, and everyday life.

@DolioJ What does someone named Mahmood know anything about Arctic conditions? Most vehicles, especially diesels, are left running in winter because the engine oil will freeze up in a short time and not be able to be restarted.

The experts would rather you didn't know this, so naturally I'm going to tell you. A stack of bunless burgers from McDonald's is one of the cleanest meals you can get your hands on. The patties are 100% beef. No fillers, no binders, no additives, whatever people insist on telling you. Cooked on a hot plate in their own fat, not a drop of seed oil in sight. Cheese is up to you. The point is what you leave behind: the bun, the sauce, the fizzy drink. The carbs, the seed oils and the sugar, gone in a single order. What's left is beef and fat, the two things you actually need, for under a tenner on any high street in the country. Handy for when you're on the move and nowhere near a kitchen. The gatekeepers would have you believe eating well takes a farmers' market and forty quid. It takes a drive-thru and the confidence to say no bun.

I post this every Father's Day, not because of my affinity for righteous violence, but to remind men that their foremost duty to their family is protector. You should always be willing to do life without parole with a smile to keep your family safe from harm. Happy Father's Day

One of the most important functions of the state is not just to punish crime. It is to reassure ordinary people that they do not need to take justice into their own hands. That is the social contract. Citizens surrender the right to personal vengeance and vigilante justice in exchange for the state providing a fair, effective, and impartial system of law. We agree not to take matters into our own hands because we trust that serious wrongdoing will be dealt with appropriately by the courts. But this trust is not automatic. It has to be earned and maintained. When people see violent offenders receiving absurdly lenient sentences, when victims are treated like shit, or when different groups are treated differently under the law, confidence in the system breaks down. The social contract is far more fragile than people realise. Most people obey the law not because they fear punishment, but because they believe the system is pretty fair and legitimate. If that belief disappears, the restraint that holds society together weakens. History is full of examples of what happens when large numbers of people conclude that the authorities either cannot or will not uphold their side of the bargain. Parallel systems of justice emerge and communities start protecting themselves. People also become more willing to excuse behaviour they would previously have condemned. Governments, especially Britain, should be extremely concerned about declining public confidence in justice systems. It’s so much bigger than individual sentences. It about the fundamental legitimacy of the state. A society where people trust the justice system is peaceful because citizens believe justice will be done. Britain is headed to chaos and the awful attacks in Scotland today are evidence. Large numbers of people have come to believe that the institutions governing them are unwilling or unable to enforce rules consistently. A fundamental duty of government is to maintain public confidence that the law applies equally, serious crimes are punished appropriately, and justice is not a privilege reserved for some but a guarantee owed to all.

Absolutely appalling. No one should face violence on our streets. The suspect appears to be motivated by anti-Muslim hatred. I will not tolerate this - he will face the full force of the law. My thoughts are with those who are injured and I thank the police and the emergency services for their response. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…
