Notes from a first time Quail farmer: We hadn't had any aggression problems for the first year, until suddenly we did... we had birds showing up maimed , and have gone through a long process of seperating birds to try and figure out what was going on... thought we had it sorted and were all set out in breeding clusters.... Today all the females in one cage have scalp wounds... the sole male is fine.... no others birds have any issue... he was my biggest/best male.. but I think something flipped a switch in him... Maybe we had them all too enclosed and he went into dominance mode and it never shut off.... because he shouldn't be harming the girls like that... put him in a pen with some males we were planning to kill soon.... and he started attacking them immediately... dude just went straight psycho... Into the freezer he goes

Last evening, Allen Erickson, the founder of the NW Montana Veterans Stand Down & Food Pantry as well as Veterans Camp Ponderosa, passed away at home, surrounded by family. He has been a mentor and a father figure to me these last couple of years. Many of you got the chance to meet him here. Always upbeat, always fun, despite living in near constant pain. I am certain that he is with a loving God now, and glad he is no longer in pain. He was a United States Navy veteran and served veterans for nearly 40 years. He has asked me to carry on his work here at Camp Ponderosa and I will. His wonderful wife Linda, who will continue leading the overall organization, told me she was worried about being safe out here at Camp without Allen and I assured her that she has an army of adopted nephews that will keep her safe out here. Thank you all for your support of our mission, Veterans Helping Veterans. Bravo Zulu, Allen. We wish you fair winds and following seas.
