Because the potato is perfect, friend... It's humble, it's enduring. It's beloved by both our cultures. It's Cute, it's friendly, and it's a MIGHTY sustaining power to us all...
Plus, it's a bit like the "root beer" doctrine... lol
It presents EXACTLY the correct idea of what our relationship should be like. Both a luxury to be enjoyed in times of feast, and a staple which can see us through famine.
With care and preparation, a delicacy even for the very rich, yet something not uncommon on the most humble of tables

Once we have a few good examples, we will vote
Then I will make them available for sale to both Japan and America (for now... more Pacific nations to follow)
And then we can begin setting up "POTATO patches" where you can have club meetings and wear you patches, and we can appreciate each others cultures together as a group, yet an ocean apart
Maybe we can start setting up SPUD (Sprouting Pacific Unity Day) Meetups to encourage cross pacific tourism where different Patches meet up to talk in Japan or America!
