He further noted that Croatian forces continued this pattern of brutality through operations in Maslenica, the Medak Pocket, "Flash," and "Storm." As a result, Serbs feared close encounters with the Croatian army, bearing in mind the atrocities committed against them during World War II."That fear was the trigger for the great exodus of Serbs. It was not so much due to the strength of the Croatian army, but rather the terror of what might happen to the children, women, and elderly relatives of the Serbian soldiers," Strbac added.
