Alex Soros is interesting because he’s a billionaire heir who dedicates his life to making cities less safe. He’s like a Reverse Batman.

@charlesmurray Thanks for reading. This study demonstrates that environmental factors explain the apparent genetic ancestry association i.e. it refutes the hypothesis that "both genes and the environment have something to do with racial differences".

Sasha, surely by this time you know the paragraph in TBC summarizing our view on genes/environment. It is the sum total, EVERYTHING, that TBC claims about the role of genes. It's highlighted in the relevant page. How does your post pertain?

Periodic reminder that the only serious test of the hereditarian hypothesis on group differences showed that large differences in educational attainment were explained by environmental factors correlated with ancestry in Mexico. An example of The Bell Curve getting shredded.

@avidseries Based on your ideal, you should check out northern New Mexico (Albuquerque, Santa Fe, etc.)

The only above option I would never consider is the first one. The other three all seem desirable in their ideal forms. But that walkable big city neighborhood might have more nearby urban dysfunction than I'd like, that small town possibly no one I'd have anything in common with, and driving a half-hour to the grocery or hardware store gets old when you live out in the middle of nowhere. My ideal, though, remains a house out in the middle of a semi-arid landscape with mountains in the distance.

@avidseries In the mid-west, there's a fifth option which is my favorite. It's the rural area that is near a good-sized city. You live in a wooded area on lots of land, but all the amenities are within a 10-15 minute drive. It's like a suburb, but much more spread-out, wooded properties.

@Heccles94 Strawman much? Elon wouldn't do any of those things because they'd be pointless and destructive. Everything Elon is doing is visionary and productive. In fact, that's exactly how he became a trillionaire.

Would it be good for the world for one man to own a million homes all for himself? No. Would it be good for the world for one man to buy tonnes and tonnes of food, far more than one man could ever eat? No. Would it be good for society for one man to buy up all the medicine and keep it for himself? No. Billionaires are not good for society. Trillionaires are not good for society.

Science is not a process, a credential, or an institution. It is the unflinching pursuit of truth, carried out by the few, co-opted by the many.

What the hell does “white culture” mean? White American culture? Are there people who think just “white culture” is actually descriptive of something?

If we tax AI, we can use that money to build a country that works for everyone. Where healthcare is treated as a human right. Where every American is guaranteed a good job. Where education isn’t a privilege reserved for the wealthy. That’s why I’m fighting to tax AI.

@rirokpik All you need is competence and dependability to get those things. Ask any black people who have attained success (outside of sports/entertainment...those industries are too elite to be attainable by everyone).

White privilege isn't about calling white people bad. It's about recognizing how race still shapes who gets believed, protected, welcomed, and given opportunity.

@RealJarTaylor Incredible! According to her (and people like her), we're all supposed to bend our will and societal norms/rules to the "boundaries" of black children. Her ethno-narcissism knows no bounds. Her 85 IQ doesn't even realize the implications of what she wrote.

Howard University prof blames, Austin Metcalf's father for Austin's death. "YOU failed to teach your boy that Black children have boundaries." "YOU failed to teach your son that touching, confronting, crowding, testing, or policing another person can have consequences." "YOU failed to teach him that the same world that cheers white boys for being bold and aggressive will not always be there to save them when they mistake somebody else’s restraint for permission."

Karmelo was in a place he wasn't supposed to be. When some kids called him on it and asked him to leave (15 times!). He felt "disrespected", so he threatened them--while having his hand on a hidden knife. After enough time, Austin "lightly shoved" him, then Karmelo immediately plunged a knife into his chest. Sorry, that's not even close to self defense.
