Everyone with a passing interest in war fighting should read this book. It was my entry into military thinking - accessible to a teenager it inspired me to join the army, a tank regiment, and remains a seminal work of military history. RIP Len Deighton.

The peace process was complicated it would have been better to leave the past alone. Sinn Féin - an organisation linked to forcing a family man to blow himself up at a checkpoint having taken his family hostage - may rue the day they decided to shine a light into that darkness.

Thankyou @TiceRichard for highlighting this. As I said in my reply, this self-flagellation delights and helps enemies such as the IRGC and Russia. Nothing kills UK offensive martial spirit more than the threat of never-ending legal persecution by a Human Rights Act that was never designed to govern combat.
