@DrNeilStone Of course infant and small child death was high, which pulled the life expectancy down. Reality is, once people passed 7 or 8 yrs old, most could easily live into their 70s. "Life expectancy" is a useless statistic.

Things that did not exist 100 years ago: Seed oils as a dietary staple. Breakfast cereal. Skimmed milk. Protein shakes. The concept of "snacking" as a normal behaviour. Low-fat yoghurt. Margarine as a health food. The idea that red meat causes heart disease. Nutrition labels. Calorie counting apps. Plant-based meat alternatives. The sentence "I'm watching my cholesterol." The sentence "I shouldn't, it's got saturated fat." Industrially produced bread that doesn't go stale for eleven days. Things that did exist 100 years ago: People eating meat, eggs, butter, and animal fat without nutritional anxiety. Far lower rates of heart disease. Far lower rates of obesity. Far lower rates of type 2 diabetes. The correlation is not subtle. The industry would prefer you focus on the genes.

@brianlilley Give Mark Carney the credit he deserves. He’s a world leading, highly respected Oxford and Harvard economist. His intelligence is sought after not just by Canadians but our allied partners too. If Trump leaves office tomorrow, Carney isn’t going anywhere. Stop gaslighting.

She says the whole restaurant heard it… and honestly, it wasn’t even about the money anymore; it was the principle. But here’s where it gets messy Some people are dragging the customers, calling it disrespectful and embarrassing. Others are saying: “Why is tipping even expected if servers are already paid?” So now the real debate isn’t about that table; it’s about the entire tipping culture. Is this just bad manners… or proof that the system itself is broken?

It is not just that Carney is good at recruiting. It is that Poilievre is unusually bad at retaining. Carney would not be able to do this nearly as easily against a leader who understood caucus management. And Poilievre would not be bleeding MPs this way if the person across from him were not so sharp at spotting vulnerability and so willing to convert it into political gain. Still waiting for media to take a hard look at Eurasia Group. They advise major companies on how to navigate and anticipate gov policy. Nothing wrong with that... not until you consider the network of insiders. When people like Evan Solomon, Gerald Butts, and Diana Fox Carney operate in that space, the Eurasia clients don’t need certainty. they just need better signal information and earlier timing to improve probability. That edge alone can be worth billions. Is this illegal? Probably not. Worth examining a bit more closely for massive conflict interest ? Probably.

I mean, the other boat was driving without lights, whoch they plead guilty to. So there's that. And anyone who knows anything about boating, knows a boat pretty is well invisible when the lights are off late at night. A pontoon boat floating around Lake Joseph without nav lights is asking to be hit.
