@MayaMajueran I never believed the first two points. Never celebrated the other two points. We need people who are not stupid. Be realistic. Not too hard. But seeing how many of our people fall for scams, believing fairytales, and thinking Sri Lanka is going to be the next Dubai… no hope

We believed it when someone said Emirates and Qatar Airways are looking at Sri Lanka as an alternative hub. We even believed Colombo could be the next Dubai. We celebrate our president eating with locals at an alms-giving. We celebrate a bus station renovation - some even said it looks like an international airport. I think the problem is the people, not the government.

I was in Sri Lanka for 5 days, and I’m absolutely mind-blown 🤯 at: 👩🏻 How safe it feels. MUCH safer than my own country and big European cities. You can wear anything and nobody stares. 🏨 The hospitality. I thought Thailand and India have warmest hospitality and then I came here. Anyone from your cab driver to hotel staff to restaurant servers - people are genuinely warm. It’s like they *want* you here. They want you to experience the best in their country. 🍤 Food. Food is affordable, but also the ingredients are so fresh! Cafes try to locally source as many ingredients as possible. I didn’t come accorss unnecessary fried or unhealthy dishes. They take pride in their tropical yield and use them all. Like I had prawn in passionfruit gravy last night! ___ I hope to come again later this year because 5 days don’t feel like enough :)

Sri Lankan cricketer Bhanuka Rajapaksa's Ex-girlfriend, Harshi Rasanga, was arrested after receiving a legal notice from the police. Actually, when Harshi Rasanga and Bhanuka Rajapaksa were in a relationship, Bhanuka had gifted her a gold chain worth 9 lakhs. However, Harshi pledged that same gold chain elsewhere. When Bhanuka Rajapaksa found out about this, he filed an FIR with the police. Based on the FIR, police served a legal notice, arrested Harshi Rasanga, and presented her in court. During the court proceedings, Harshi Rasanga confessed to her mistake, and the court has now granted her bail with two sureties of 5 lakhs each. The court stated that a 5 lakh surety was enough, but since Harshi pledged the gifted chain without informing anyone, an additional 5 lakh surety is being imposed.

@DrBukkabwoi A follow up thread should be why Sri Lanka hasn’t mass mined graphite and produced graphene. Global market cap of graphene. If I’m not wrong only a minuscule amount is needed for EV batteries. It’s not a hugely in demand mineral. SL does have high quality graphite.

Cricketer Bhanuka Rajapaksa has sent a Letter of Demand (LOD) to young actress Harshi Rasanga over alleged false accusations made against him on social media, claiming she presented a different version of events after court proceedings. Rajapaksa’s legal team has alleged that the actress acknowledged before court that the gold chain had been pawned, but later shared a contradictory narrative on social media, prompting legal action. The dispute relates to a gold chain valued at over Rs. 900,000, which Rajapaksa alleged was borrowed by the actress and later pawned without his knowledge. The actress was arrested by the Thalangama Police and produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court, where she was granted bail on two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each. During court proceedings, the defence informed that the gold chain had been pawned and that arrangements could be made to redeem it and return it. However, speaking to media later, the actress claimed the chain had been given to her as a gift during a personal relationship. It’s good that no one is supporting a war that no one asked for, except the USA and Israel. If the USA has sufficient supply, they should withdraw and use its own. Then other countries can peacefully source from Iran and others, as we had no issues until the attacks began. If terrorists are killing people, then the USA and Israel are economic terrorists, destroying economies worldwide !
