I’m South African, of course I can’t open a small business in my own country without risking conflict with Somali, Ethiopian, or Pakistani traders who dominate the sector and could harm me, even though the sector is reserved for South Africans.

@JacintaNgobese Allegedly the protection fee and spaza mafia suspected to be Somali/Pakistani nationals were seen skirting his shop for days but residents were unsuspecting until he went missing. It is believed a local Vosloorus man called “Zulu” is the intermediary. Now also nowhere 2b seen.

Nearly a month has passed since the alleged kidnapping of Mazwi, with his family still seeking answers. They believe he was targeted after opening a spaza shop and say investigators have not provided updates. According to the family, an unknown man had pressured Mazwi to sell his shop to Pakistani nationals, which he refused. They also allege that a security company is protecting foreign shop owners while forcing locals to close. The family is urging authorities to act urgently and provide clarity, saying the case requires serious attention as concerns grow over what may have happened to him.
