As far as MGS3, I haven't played it and I don't know how it ends, but I'll grant you that it almost definitely has more weight if you play it yourself as intended. Doesn't mean you can't still enjoy the story of the game (which is in fact just the cutscenes)

That interactivity and journey forms the story. I saved Princess Peach. I defeated Sephiroth. I won the Grand Prix. THAT is the story.
