@Martyupnorth @cd_lmh The refining business has about the same odds as playing at a casino. That is why almost EVERY oil company got out of refining. It's a complicated industry that wud require a novel to explain the small upside & the very financially dangerous downside risks.

There's a reason Alberta doesn't refine all the oil it produces. The refining capacity is nowhere near what we would need. It's also a very small margin business. Everyone who thinks we'd make more money selling diesel and gasoline is mistaken.

So very true and Unlike the West Strong battle hardened men, who are well read and intelligent. Few countries would be able to withstand the full might and hostility of the combined USA/ISRAEL military for more than a few days. The Iranians have an obviously well prepared military doctrine and defenses.

One advantage the Iranians have is that their entire elite seems to consist of 130 IQ polymath combat veterans with PhDs who stormed across minefields with fixed bayonets surrounded by poison gas back in the day and then spent 30 years studying philosophy, game theory, engineering and military science. Average decision-maker quality appears to be dramatically higher than elsewhere, especially qualified for shit-hits-the-fan situations

USA 🇺🇸 This is Richard. He is an elderly man. He delivers food to get by since his wife lost her job. And yet the US government would rather spend $1 billion a day on lobbing bombs into Iran than actually putting Americans (like Richard) first.

Many people are quick to label others as terrorists, but rarely apply that same standard to powerful leaders. When I look at the actions of Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu, I honestly feel like the word “terrorism” gets ignored when it comes from those in power. Terrorism is supposed to mean using violence, fear, and collective punishment to achieve political goals. Yet when governments carry out actions that devastate civilians, destroy cities, and keep entire populations living in constant fear, it suddenly gets called “security,” “defense,” or “strategy.” Under Trump, we saw policies and rhetoric that escalated conflicts and treated human lives like political leverage. Under Netanyahu, military actions in Gaza and the broader region have resulted in massive civilian suffering and destruction. When bombs fall on homes, when children grow up surrounded by war and fear, it is hard for many people not to see that as terror, no matter who is doing it. Powerful nations and leaders often get to control the narrative. They decide who gets labeled a terrorist and who gets called an ally. But from the perspective of the people living under the bombs and the blockades, the distinction probably does not feel very different. If terrorism is about spreading fear and violence for political ends, then maybe we should be willing to question everyone in power, not just the enemies they point at. The label should not depend on who holds the microphone or the biggest military. They’re the real terrorists.

A great many of their deaths were live-streamed - and gleefully so. I suspect you and I will not agree on a lot but surely you are not suggesting that the gruesome carnage and act of war initiated by Hamas on October 7 didn’t happen.

@LoriSigurdson So, you want the government to spend more, and spend less, and tax more, and tax less, and have a larger deficit, and have a smaller deficit, and accumulate more debt, and accumulate less debt. Got it. Wow, the NDP are so smart at policy!

Despite a $9.4B deficit & projected debt of $137B, the UCP has delivered little for Albertans. After seven years under the UCP, life is harder for Albertans, and this budget does nothing to help.  In fact, it makes life more expensive and doesn’t fix healthcare or education!

Pierre loves nothing more than getting a report and looking for noise within the signal, pockets of bad news in the overall good story. GDP growth for 2025 was 1.7% - right on expectation. In 2025 Canada also created more jobs than the U.S., despite the U.S.' larger size. In 2025 we also saw the most foreign direct investment in Canada in 18 years. Housing starts are up. Housing prices are down. Wages have grown faster than inflation every month Mark Carney has been Prime Minister. This is despite an ongoing trade war that we are more exposed to than any other nation: 71% of our exports go to the United States and the next closest G7 country is Japan at 19%. Minister LeBlanc is in the U.S. right now working on a trade deal, looking to improve on what is already the best effective tariff rate in the world. The Prime Minister is in India right now, looking to add to the twelve new trade and security deals he's already signed. We'll keep managing the moment now and keep setting Canada up for a more diversified and more stable future. Pierre can keep doing this 👇, but it isn't helping a soul.
Pierre Poilievre@PierrePoilievre

April 26, 2025, the Liberal Party promised a Mark Carney-led government would “build the fastest growing economy in the G7.” Today we learned 👇

I read this piece. It’s chilling. It’s wrong to give immigrants healthcare benefits better than Canadians. And it’s wrong to admit refugees who are fake. But it’s downright disgraceful to accuse Poilievre and Smith of something they’re not doing. And it’s disgraceful to refuse to protect Canada from illegals. The liberal left has blamed everyone else for the decline of the Canadian economy STOP Stop: blaming Stephen Harper He hasn't been in power for over 10 years Stop: Blaming Donald Trump He is not the leader of Canada Stop: Blaming Pierre Poilievre He is only the opposition leader. START Start: Looking into terrible policies created by this liberal government for the past 10 years Start: Looking into the many conflict of interest from Mark Carney and his goons Start: Looking into Mark Carneys USA investments Start Looking into his backroom deals with China Start Looking into this liberal government corruption and hypocrisy.

@Bratt_world @NewsWire_US Did you know that ANY tarriff tax is basically a consumption tax, which means if you don't like the price on something, don't buy it. EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY in the EU has a VAT tax & has had for years. Tarriff or VAT tax is the same thing different name. Nobody calling out EU, why?
