When I took the photo I asked him what he thought about cancer and the finger was his response! It became a pretty viral pic amongst the cancer community.

@Reil76 The bottom line is that you can not make a long term agreement with America as a future administration can potentially reneg on the deal. They can no longer be trusted and you need to diversify your economy.

This is the last time I discuss this, since people still don’t seem to get it. People keep acting like the Gordie Howe Bridge can’t make a profit until every dollar of the construction cost is paid back. That’s not how businesses work. If a company borrows $6 billion to build a factory, and that factory brings in $100 million a month while costs are only $40 million, the business made a $60 million operating profit that month. The loan still exists, but the business is profitable. The outstanding debt and the monthly profit are two different things. The same principle applies to a toll bridge. Tolls come in, operating costs are paid, and whatever is left is operating profit. The fact that the original construction loan hasn’t been fully repaid doesn’t mean the bridge isn’t generating profit. Debt is a balance sheet item. Profit is an income statement item. Confusing the two leads to bad arguments.

An Alberta judge just froze more than $8.5 million in assets belonging to Jeffrey Rath, the lawyer who’s been the legal face of the Alberta separatist movement. The injunction came from an application by the Tallcree First Nation. They’re trying to remove Rath and his firm from overseeing the band’s roughly $15 million trust, set up after a 2017 settlement with the federal government over broken agricultural promises. Here’s the money trail. Courts already ordered Rath to repay Tallcree $8.5 million over a fee dispute, a ruling the Alberta Court of Appeal upheld last November. Then in November 2025, Tallcree alleges Rath moved that exact same amount, $8,518,075, out of the trust account and into his own corporation’s account. BMO’s records confirmed the transfer. It gets worse. On June 26, the same day Rath was removed as trustee in an urgent hearing, his firm allegedly wired another $106,000 to an unknown recipient. Tallcree’s court filing says roughly two thirds of the trust’s assets have been drained since 2024. Justice Marion, who granted the freeze, wrote he had reason to believe Rath’s assets would be “dissipated or removed” before any judgment could be reached. Rath is currently limited to $10,000 for living expenses and $100,000 for legal fees until the next hearing. This is the same man who’s been touring Alberta as legal counsel for the Alberta Prosperity Project, building the legal case for secession. @Reil76 In cases like this, you cannot generalize and say "this is how business works". The details are in the agreement. Every agreement is different and unique. But if you are pushing some sort of idea that we are not going to get paid back for the bridge through revenue, you are wrong
