Both DDR5 and LPDDR5x costs continue to increase, and we've had to update pricing again today. As before, we are setting DDR5 prices as close as possible to our purchase price, and absorbing some of the increase on LPDDR5x.
Framework@FrameworkPuter

We held off on it for as long as we could, but we had to update our Framework Desktop pricing today to account for the massive increase in LPDDR5x pricing from our suppliers. As before, we're only adjusting prices enough to cover the increases in cost.

@dhh I couldn't believe it either, but here is a photo of my actual screen - it's almost "lickable"! Hope Framework will add an oled panel to their lineup.

No picture can do the real-life difference justice, but in terms of vibrancy, OLED is just in a completely different ballgame from IPS. It's shocking. Like the colors are dripping off the display 😋

We are going to need to increase our memory pricing soon, but we won’t use this as an excuse to gouge customers like @Dell apparently has and that @Apple does as their norm.

We're happy to share our latest set of Sponsorships to open source organizations, bringing our total for the year above $225,000. These include Arch Linux, CachyOS, Debian, Bazzite, NixOS, FreeBSD, and NetBSD. You can see our full set here: frame.work/blog/framework…

It turns out businesses and organizations want longer lasting, customizable computers too. Our B2B sales have grown even faster than consumer over the last year, and we're expanding our team to keep scaling this. We just opened a Head of Sales role to lead this area.

Managed to get WiFi working on Linux with an unsupported WiFi card! (MT7902) By using QEMU/KVM with PCIe passthrough and Internet sharing on the Windows VM to the tap0 interface. You can get the WiFI connection to work on the host through this hacky method!

@matteocervelli @jakew @dev_maims I like to build on this with Mint, a more stable company with better consumer practices and extremely nice desktop (idk man the Windows style just hits different, but you can change it) and avoids the issues with Snap by using Flatpaks.

A more precise statement, IMO: - Linux, specifically Ubuntu, is the best OS for development. It has better kernel integration and replicability, containerization has a better performance and you develop without any tradeoff or change between development and production. - macOS is the best host OS. Because of a superior hardware platform and parallels. Parallels enable to work with Linux like it’s a boot, same with windows, in the same time, with the same keyboard and display, and it’s fast and smooth. Working with Ubuntu VMs it separates environments, so that your orchestration OS is never affected - also, while you can develop .NET on apple metal relatively easily, using SQL on Docker, swift poses more challenges on NT

Omarchy 3.1 is also shipping with unified copy/paste hotkeys. Super + C / V. No more remembering that it's Ctrl + C / V in a browser and Ctrl + Shift + C / V in a Terminal. Oh, and in service of @sudobunni, full screen is now Super + F (instead of F11) 😄
