Thursday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time Daily readings- 2 Kings 24: 8-17; Matthew 7: 21-29; My personal reflections 1st reading- The Fall of Jerusalem. While the Southern Kingdom of Judah lasted longer than the northern kingdom of Israel, eventually God allowed it to fall as well because they turned away from Him. We should understand from this that if we receive His gift of Grace, we are then called to follow Him and His will. However, even when we turn away, because of His great love, he will always be ready to welcome us back. Gospel- More than Faith Alone. Here Jesus is emphatically clear that those who hear and believe, but does not act in accordance with them, will not enter the kingdom of Heaven. This is why faith alone is insufficient, and Jesus is clear as day about it here, and in other gospel readings. The gift of Grace cannot be earned, but if accepted, we must let it change ourselves and produce the good fruits for His glory. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist Mass during the Day Daily readings- Isaiah 49: 1-6; Acts 13: 22-26; Luke 1: 57-66, 80; My personal reflections 1st reading- Foretelling of John. The other Isaiah is telling of the coming of John, the new Elijah, who would make straight the path of the Lord. However, we are called to imitate this calling in our own daily lives. 2nd reading- John's humility and obedience. In this reading I am struck by just how humble and obedient John was to his calling he received from the Lord. I pray often that I can be that humble and obedient in what I am called to do. Gospel- Zechariah and Elizabeth consent. The Lord was stern with Zachariah when he asked in disbelief how John would come to be as his wife was too old to conceive. They both saw how important it is to not test and challenge the Lord, but to listen and obey and trust in the Lord's plan. Lord help me to trust you and follow you. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

Why do Protestants demand that "Pope" or "pray to Mary" must appear explicitly in Scripture for the papacy or communion of saints to be true, but then cannot show us "Sola Scriptura," "66-book canon," "altar call," or "accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior" explicitly taught in Scripture? If a doctrine must be rejected unless the exact phrase is in the Bible, then Protestantism fails by its own standard.

@BishopJaxi This is easy. Moving the goalposts and "rules for thee, but not for me" explains all of this.

Tuesday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time Daily readings- 2 Kings 11: 9b-11, 14-21, 31-35a, 36; Matthew 7: 6, 12-14 My personal reflections 1st reading- Do not mock the Lord. The king of the Assyrians mocks the Lord in this reading and is dealt with harshly. We should also remember to never mock the Lord, even in jest. We should always remember that the Lord is there for us if we allow Him to be. Gospel- Not restrictions, but guardrails to Heaven. Jesus here is describing one of the most common misconceptions about all of the "rules" that Christians have to follow. So many non-believers and even believers, see all the rules as a burden and restrictive. However, this couldn't be any further from the actual truth. These rules and commands are actually just guard rails to keep us from falling away so that we may stay on the path that does lead us to heaven. The path that does free us from sin. These rules and restrictions keep us from becoming slaves to sin again. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

Monday of the Twelfth Week in Ordinary Time Daily readings-2 Kings 17: 5-8, 13-15a, 18; Matthew 7: 1-5; My personal reflections 1st reading- Do not turn away from God. Turning away from God does not make evil happen to you, it simply means that God will no longer keep you in His light. Gospel- Hypocrisy. Jesus here is giving a simple, but blunt lesson on hypocrisy. It is best not to judge others, because we are not perfect either. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

Twelfth Sunday in Ordinary Time Daily readings- Jeremiah 20: 10-13; Romans 5: 12-15; Matthew 10: 26-33; My personal reflections 1st reading- Fear not, for He is with you. This is a powerful reading to me. It reminds me to never forget that, no matter how dark things seem, He will guide me through it and I have nothing to fear if I remain close to Him. 2nd reading- Where sin abounds, Grace abounds all the more. We are sinners by birth and we will struggle all our lives with it. However, we are reminded that His Grace is always there for us no matter our sins. The only question is: Will we accept it? Gospel- The Calling. Jesus here is commanding us to be brave and bold in proclaiming His Name and His Word. He knows that we will suffer in doing this. We will be heckled, scorned, and some of us will receive physical punishment and even death. But Jesus tells us not to worry, because we will be received into His Kingdom with praise and glory because we were with Him. It's Sunday, the greatest day of the week. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

@MrCasey62 @YaredScott @MrCasey62 also, interestingly, the Augustinian numbering has existed long before the thing called the protestant reformation did. It's almost like they really don't like historical facts or accuracy.....

Interestingly, @YaredScott lied about the Catholic Church. The “Second command” against “graven images” is included IN FULL in the Catholics’ FIRST Commandment—both on the Vatican’s website & in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Catholics just use St. Augustine’s numbering.

Saturday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time Daily readings- 2 Chronicles 24: 17-25; Matthew 6: 24-34; My personal reflections 1st reading- God is just. He does not want bad things to happen to us. He does not want us to turn away from him. He does not want to bring his wrath down on us. However, He will not take away our free will and He will let us have what we ask for. Lord, guide me and keep me safe from all evil. Gospel- Worry not. We struggle with this one, don't we? It is so hard to not worry about things when the bills are piling up, health concerns are present, and so many more things are going on every day in our lives. However, Jesus here speaks the absolute truth. Worrying, as much as we do it, has never solved a problem or helped any one out. Ever. And I have learned it the hard way over the years that if I just trust in Him, somehow, it will all work out. Lord, I believe. Help my unbelief. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

Friday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time Daily readings- 2 Kings 11: 1-4, 9-18, 20; Matthew 6: 19-23 My personal reflections 1st reading- Justice comes, but not always when we want it. One of the more difficult things is to live in this world and see what looks like evil winning or even being flaunted. We are called to have faith that in due time, when He wills it, all of the unjust will be dealt with. Lord, I believe, help my unbelief. Gospel- Treasures in Heaven. Jesus here is reminding us to not worry about weirdly treasures, but to instead live in a way that will reward us in heaven. Lord, help me to be more like you. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

h, I see you’re breaking out the Greek lexicon. Impressive! Except, here’s where your word study hits a wall: biblical context actually matters. You’re right about the etymology of anamnesis (ἀνάμνησις) meaning to "recall" or "bring to mind." But in Scripture, especially in sacrificial contexts, anamnesis is much deeper than a mere mental exercise. It’s a "re-presentation" of a past event that makes it present and effective. That’s why in the Passover, Jews don’t just “remember” the Exodus—they actively participate in it through the ritual. The same concept is applied to the Eucharist. Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice is not repeated, but made present in time. Notice Jesus didn’t say, “Remember me as a nice idea.” He said, “Do this” (Luke 22:19). That’s action—not just nostalgia. So yeah, when Catholics say anamnesis is a re-presentation, we’re not rewriting Greek. We’re actually following the Jewish and sacrificial context that you seem to miss.

Thursday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time Daily readings-Sirach 48: 1-14; Matthew 6: 7-15; My personal reflections 1st reading- Greatness in following the Lord. This whole reading is about being in awe of the power of the Lord as shown through Elijah and Elisha. However, we know it wasn't them that was powerful, but it was their obedience to the Will of the Lord that allowed them to exhibit His power. Lord, strengthen me that I might be as obedient to you as Elijah and Elisha. Gospel- How to pray. Jesus here teaches that we need not inundate God with mindless, repetitive words and phrases, but to pray with focused intention. Jesus here is also teaching us that we do not need to "get God's attention" the way pagans did to their "gods", but that He already is paying attention and is always ready to hear our pleas and petitions. Lord, help me to speak with you in a deeper fashion. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD

Wednesday of the Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time Daily readings-2 Kings 2: 1, 6-14; Matthew 6: 1-6, 16-18 My personal reflections 1st reading- Faith and Obedience. In this reading we get to see the faith of Elisha and his obedience to the calling he received from the Lord. If only I can follow my Lord's will so boldly. Lord, strengthen me. Gospel- Take no pride. Here Jesus is reminding us about the sinfulness of pride. He is reminding us that we should stay humble in all things and give all glory that comes our way to God, and not keep it for ourselves lest we start to stray from Him. Every good thing I do is from God, and for God. I pray you experience Jesus Christ and have a blessed day today. Dominus Vobiscum WOTD
