Hey fantasy writers, how do you go about creating a unique magic system? I am toying with one for my new romantasy WIP and it's proving difficult.

@SDDonovan I'd try fitting it in with the themes and motifs of your book somehow. I'd also decide if it's a hard or soft magic system.

On the #ChaosMagic front, I've been really drawn to Pythagorean numerology lately. I keep analyzing names and such based on it. Numbers are a framework of sorts.

Only the toughest of the Eotan menfolk play this sport while the women egg them on from the sidelines and laugh their asses off. The men who don't play make bets with each other but cringe each time a kick lands. /2

One of my fantasy races from my WIP (the Eotan) has a sport like this except the men take turns kicking each other in the *nards*. The loser is the one who either gives up or falls three times. /1
