Understand this about the Saudi military:
1) It is overwhelmingly staffed by foreigners (mostly Pakis),
2) It has FAILED to achieve its strategic aims in Yemen after a decade of blasting the place apart.
3) It is primarily meant for a) limited counterterrorism and b) internal policing mission sets.
AND LET US NOT EVEN TALK ABOUT THE OVERWHELMING UNWILLINGNESS OF SAUDIS TO GO TO WAR/STRUGGLE AGAINST THE ODDS THEY ARE FACING WITH IRAN.
In other words, if Trump is expecting the Saudi military to have his back, he's even more delusional than I believed.

Pakistan is surely walking a tightrope. This is not our war. We stayed out of Yemen when Parliament held the line. But that architecture now feels irrelevant - as civilians are irrelevant. If Saudi defence pact is invoked: > we enter uncharted territory. And that too, for an external actor, no end in sight. In the case of Iran: > 900 km border is not just a footnote. Public sentiment is anti-Zionist/anti-American. Elite sentiment remains aligned the other way. This should be debated in Parliament. It wonโt be. Hoping that sanity prevails and Pakistan is not dragged into a war that's not ours.

These analysts are wrong. Pakistan's nuclear arsenal is for deterrent purposes to guarantee its own security, not for hire. It is not on the table for anyone, pact or no pact. Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state
