The Washington Research Foundation (WRF) has granted $6 million to a new initiative aimed at advancing late-stage preclinical development and first-in-human human clinical trials of novel therapeutics. The foundation awarded $2 million to David Rawlings , MD, director of the Center for Immunity and Immunotherapies at Seattle Childrenโs Research Institute, for his work developing a treatment for a genetic disorder called X-linked agammaglobulinemia. Fred Hutch Cancer Centerโs Soheil Meshinchi, MD, PhD, an attending physician at Childrenโs, will use his $2 million WRF grant to develop a treatment for osteosarcoma, paving the way for future pediatric clinical studies at Childrenโs.
