posts like these will never actually get people to share their most controversial opinion bc theyre far more incentivized to post (1) popular discourse that’s been hashed over 1000x already and known as “safe” debate fodder (2) extremist but unserious takes to get a reaction (3) not even extremist but still unserious takes in the hopes someone will find them funny. an actual controversial opinion would require a level of vulnerability not usually (although not never) found in the online-sphere :p

i went rlly into it in my review of backrooms but i think the main difference between the two is that obsession benefited from the genre it was in + curry barker + team obvs had a lot of love for the horror genre while i feel backrooms suffered from being a horror film and could've been better as another genre altogether letterboxd.com/friedeggnes/fi…
