Nunca he sido fan de Ilia Topuria, simplemente por un tema de personalidad; no es el tipo de peleador con el que simpatizo. Sin embargo, sus habilidades nos quedaron claras desde el inicio. Pero hoy también nos demostró su corazón. No lo habíamos visto enfrentar una verdadera adversidad, salvo en la pelea contra Herbert, en la que logró reponerse y resolver rápidamente. Hoy, aunque perdió el invicto, me parece que mostró una garra que a veces solo surge frente a la derrota. Estaba lastimado desde el primer asalto y, aun así, salió en cada round a intentar cambiar el rumbo del combate. Tuvo oportunidades de hacerlo. No salir al quinto asalto fue una decisión de su esquina —correcta, definitivamente—, pero no me queda duda de que él quería seguir. En pocos años tomó por sorpresa a UFC, y su impacto en las MMA españolas ha sido tremendo. Estoy seguro de que aprenderá de lo ocurrido esta noche y volverá más fuerte.
