Cain Velasquez says that spending time with his family was the most important part of his day-to-day life following his time in prison. "I took it very slow, but that's what I needed to slowly get accustomed to normal life again," he told Red Corner MMA. "The most important thing is always to be with the family," he added.

Cain Velasquez revealed that during the hard times he went through, the first people to reach out to him were his teammates from Team AKA: Khabib Nurmagomedov, Islam Makhachev, and Daniel Cormier. "Once you've worked out with a certain group of people for so long, you become brothers," Velasquez told Red Corner MMA before the IBA Bare Knuckle event in Miami, Florida.
