Taurine reverses endothelial dysfunction, a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, in diabetics, in just two weeks.
Endothelial dysfunction means the inner lining of blood vessels is not working properly:
• the vessel lining (the endothelium) is supposed to help blood vessels relax, widen, and stay healthy
• when it is dysfunctional, the vessels become stiffer and do not widen normally
• that is an early warning sign of future blood vessel disease, including atherosclerosis and heart problems
The research was done in young men with type 1 diabetes and early endothelial dysfunction. They received 500 mg of taurine three times per day. A control group received placebo, an inactive, identical-looking tablet.
Before taurine supplementation the young men with type 1 diabetes had:
• stiffer arteries than healthy controls
• blood vessels that did not widen properly
After 2 weeks of taurine supplementation:
• arterial stiffness improved
• brachial artery reactivity improved
• both measures returned to about the same level as the healthy controls
Taurine reversed early blood vessel dysfunction.
"Assessed diabetics had detectable, statistically significant abnormalities when compared with controls, in both arterial stiffness (augmentation index) and brachial artery reactivity (FMD). Both of these parameters were returned to control levels with 2 weeks taurine supplementation. In conclusion, 2 weeks taurine supplementation reverses early, detectable conduit vessel abnormalities in young male diabetics. This may have important implications in the long-term treatment of diabetic patients and their subsequent progression towards atherosclerotic disease."

Taurine protects the thyroid from fluoride. “Fluoride exposure significantly decreased the plasma levels of thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) as well as the ratio of T3 to T4 in the treated rats. The decrease in these thyroid hormones indicates an impairment of the thyroid gland's ability to synthesize and/or increase the metabolism of these hormones. Additionally, a reduction in the circulating levels of T3/T4 is indicative of a malfunctioning thyroid pathway that fails to activate the negative feedback to the hypothalamus and pituitary. ...taurine restored fluoride-mediated decrease in the circulatory concentrations of T3, T4, and the ratio of T3 to T4.” PMID: 27334436 🐁

@0xAlaric It’s insane we have all these countries with millions of people and nothing seems to happen there. Indonesia has the 3rd or 4th largest population in the world and they have no cultural footprint
