It’s now obvious that Keystone is going to be easier and more economic than a northwest pipeline and will move first. That’s our own doing, Canada, and I greatly lament that fact. We couldn’t have gotten a more serious lesson in realism and geopolitics this past 18 months, and three weeks, yet still we will be putting more barrels south than in to the Pacific. But it occurred to me the real “generational fumble” was cancelling Northern Gateway in 2018. A privately funded pipeline, 90% through consultation and regs, that we let slide, nay, pushed away. A pox on everyone that contributed to that outcome, and to us making the same mistake less than a decade later. Real people are facing a real energy crisis in Asia Pacific today and we could’ve been in a way better position to help.

Varcoe: As oil pipelines become an ace in 'Canada's deck' in US trade talks, should country place bet on path south or west? "You obviously can't fill both of them at the same time,' says Heather Exner-Pirot at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute. calgaryherald.com/opinion/column… #ableg #yyc

$11.06 billion is the total amount spent by Global Affairs Canada on "gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls" initiatives abroad from fiscal year 2015–16 through 2024–25 (the last full year of Trudeau's term) - which includes Bilateral aid programs targeting gender equality in developing countries. Contributions to multilateral organizations (e.g., UN Women, World Bank gender initiatives). Feminist International Assistance Policy projects (launched in 2017, which made gender equality a core focus of Canadian foreign aid).

🇨🇦🛢️🏭 : BC Premier David Eby says he is open to building a refinery in British Columbia to cut off imports of oil & gas from the USA. He announced this after being asked if he would lift the tanker ban across the Northern BC Coast. Eby says the TMX expansion is not being utilized at capacity and thus he sees no need for a new taxpayer funded pipeline. David also says there is no offer from the private sector to build a pipeline. Enbridge wanted to build the Northern Gateway pipeline 10 years ago. We also had a private offer to build a multi billion $ refinery in Kitimat. Both projects were cancelled because Justin Trudeau & David Eby made it impossible for private investors. In the case of the Northern Gateway pipeline, Justin Trudeau cancelled it in 2016 despite that line having First Nation consent & billions in equity shares in the line. Something I have posted about repeatedly, including a few days ago. Enbridge also spent $1 billion on consultations and environmental impact assessments, only to have the new Liberal government ax the project anyways. Once the BC NDP came to power, they made it next to impossible for a refinery project to be built by ensuring the process would cost far too much, while having too much uncertainty, to be viable. We lost a decade of prosperity because of Justin Trudeau's Liberals & the BC NDP pushing their self serving agendas. Only to now watch David Eby backtrack 10 years later. This should infuriate everyone. We could have had that refinery built by now and be domestically benefitting from & exporting premium jet fuel, gasoline, diesel & various types of crude. The reality is, David Eby is a failure & should be stepping down so a competent government can take over.

@mattdellok If it means more live music venues and splashpads all over the city, we’re behind you 1000% ! You’ve really found a way to connect with what the majority of the people need. The people are tired of hearing about all of the downtown problems and business closures. Water slides!

On October 30, 2024, AFN Chief, Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak, stated that "in 2021...@tkemlups recovered 215 of their children from the Kamloops Indian Residential School" and that "over 3800 additional unmarked burial sites have been discovered", thus constituting "genocide".

I have written to Minister @AnitaAnandMP regarding the unacceptable denial of entry and mistreatment of a Canadian parliamentary delegation at the Allenby Crossing this past week. The conduct of Israeli border officials was wholly inconsistent with diplomatic norms.

British Columbia has world class environmental and marine safety standards. Yet the Federal Liberal oil tanker ban shuts Canadian energy out of our own Pacific coast. This is not about safety. It is a political veto backed by David Eby’s BC NDP, sacrificing jobs, Indigenous partnerships and national unity to protect a failed ideology.

@DonDavies @tomfletcherbc How do you feel about electing someone from a certain party (NDP), but instead of being an actual opposition party to the minority government, they continue to prop up a minority government (Liberals)? You and Jaggy pretty much crossed the floor to prop up blackface Trudeau.

Floor-crossers contradict the voters who elected them. If they truly think they have valid reasons for doing so, they should have no problem putting their decision to their constituents for approval. If they don’t, it’s a unilateral betrayal of democracy. share.google/seW6yPw0ZR3wzI…

Madness is sweeping police forces in Europe that once claimed democracy and free expression. Protesters against the genocide in Gaza and its siege are being brutally suppressed in Germany, the Netherlands, and now France. What a disgrace for Europe.

One of the first settlers of the Greater Victoria region was William Thomson. He was a Scotsman taken as a slave by the local First Nations, and freed by Governor James Douglas for seven blankets. Canada's history contains many such fascinating episodes, but they are buried in cardboard boxes and hidden away in musty basements. This must change.

Utterly insane. This guy was arrested in August, while on probation, for trying to kidnap girls, and being in possession of illegal assault weapons. And he was then let out on bail!! Now he has been re-arrested, and has known ties to ISIS. This is a total, catastrophic failure of the Canadian “criminal justice system.” Is it going to take a terrorist on bail to replay a Bondi Beach style massacre in Canada before Parliament will act? Enough! Parliament should be reconvened immediately to eliminate bail provisions for re-offending violent criminals, with prospective application of the Notwithstanding Clause. This is not complicated. The vast majority of Canadians would support it.
Toronto Crime Watch@CrimewatchTO

Want to know how broken Canada is? Waleed Khan, 26 of Toronto, who is now charged with terrorism offences, was arrested in August 2025 after trying to kidnap teenage girls at gunpoint. Police found two loaded prohibited firearms: an AR-15 rifle capable of automatic fire and a pistol, both equipped with prohibited high-capacity magazines, along with over 110 rounds of ammunition. He was on probation at the time of arrest for prior violent offences and prohibited from possessing firearms. A judge still released him on bail with an ankle monitor. Today it was revealed he had links to ISIS, they were targeting teenage Jewish girls, and he is being charged with terrorism offences.
