Well that's good about the self-policing. And public what?! 😂🤣 Oh my. You two (English and Scots) are making this so incredibly entertaining. Can we please do this party every year before the 4th of July? 😂 And yeah the speech police dude was just 1 person. Americans know that jerk doesn't represent Brits. And bitter. Yeah we picked up on the jealousy/rivalry between you 2 for our American attention. 🤣😉 The Boston bar should not have closed and that was in poor taste. Americans aren't really "into" soccer. We love football...and I mean American football. So this has been an experience for us. Not to mention Americans aren't used to large numbers of Scots and English in our towns....well, modern day. 🤣😂 Watching it all on social media has been interesting.
I have seen some happy singing videos of Scots and happy singing videos of English. It makes me happy as an American. I even posted about it. I'll have to share that post with you.

British are English, Scottish, Welsh & Northern Irish. I'm an American and I know this. Many Americans know this. We love our English and Scottish visitors! However I think I can explain what's going on in the American mind lol. British = English = Redcoats. Automatically because 1776. Think of the Patriot movie, British accents for redcoats. No Scottish accents for redcoats when we think of it. Scottish = bagpipes and kilts. We don't automatically or initially associate Redcoats with Scottish. So while yes, Scots are British, we assign British English with Redcoats. A lot of Scots-Irish were Patriots in the American Revolution as well. And yes Scots fought on the Loyalist side. But England gets heavily connected to British Redcoats. I'm explaining the American mind doing a shortcut. It's just a short hand way I guess our brains are dealing with it. 😂 The imagery of Scots in kilts contradicts our imagery of British Redcoats with English accents so amazingly, the English are being assigned that role specifically. Because that is technically historically accurate. So while yes we KNOW Scots are British too, 250 years of British Redcoats being specifically associated very strongly with the English and there ya go. So in a way it's just lazy shorthand and the Scots made us laugh with orange traffic cones. 😂 And they all went to Boston. You're going to have very strong patriotic ties in Boston 250 years later! Right before our 250th.
