#NeoGeo #AES repair session : 3-6 Japanese import, my first repair of January 2026 ! serial number: #201460, bought as "untested" from Japan, yeah, right 😂 Classic click of death issue, no obvious superficial repairs, heavy corrosion traces all around the cartridge slot. Console had been opened before, looks like a little mouse tried to fix it first😄 Click of death happens when communication between major chips fails (bad signals, power issues, etc.). The built-in watchdog safety feature forces a reset to protect the system. wiki.neogeodev.org/index.php?titl… wiki.neogeodev.org/index.php?titl… Corrosion everywhere (as usual), humidity strikes again. On the LSPC2-A2 side (sprite generator chip : Pretty blackened on some pins. Scraped gently with a mini Dremel, no obvious broken tracks. To do it right, lifted the custom with low-temp solder, thoroughly cleaned the PCB underneath, confirmed all traces intact❤️remounted the chip, and finished with UV mask to protect the area. Z80 side : not pretty either😏looks like a water leak poorly "fixed" by a Sunday plumber who desoldered everything.. Cleaned it up, scraped lightly, repaired with 0.04mm copper wire, and applied UV mask. Same nasty story between the cartridge slot and the 68000 — absolutely gross 🤮 Pics speak for themselves; no way this was ever going to boot... Finally, installed a #neopass module + #unibios next week and we're good to go 😎

Word of caution, this firmware update can potentially permanently damage images in the OS. I've even tried downgrading, upgrading again, doing global reset, and nothing fixes it. I sent @analogue an email with this and a number of other issues, but still awaiting a reply. Games work and everything, just the OS is permanently corrupted.

@ZhugeEX I personally preferred to double dip on Zelda BotW and TotK Switch 2 editions than buy new games on key-cards. Pretty sure there are many others out there who feel the same way and will “vote” with their wallets.

I hate to break it to people, but the "I refuse to buy a game for my Nintendo Switch 2 if the physical version is not on the cart" crowd are both a minority today and will be an even smaller minority in 5 years.

Hoping someone can give me some recommendations for a case. These are my options from Cyberpower. Yes, I know I have more freedom if I build myself, but I would rather just buy prebuilt. I already checked what my build would cost if I ordered the parts and it was like a $200 difference. I'll happily pay $200 for someone else to build for me. Thanks for any help!

I added a small patch. megaswitchhd.com/megaswitch-hd/… Automatic reset to defaults added (on first boot after firmware update) if the version differs from the previous one. Added restriction when selecting Custom Levels values.
