Thessalon has had no full time doctor for more than 4 years. The clinic relies on patchwork locum coverage. Their ER regularly closes. They need 2-3 doctors to be a sustainable group, otherwise the workload for a solo MD is too much. We need a plan for healthcare in the North.

Let’s talk about why emergency departments are full. We’re going to use Mary as an example. Mary is a completely fictional patient. Let’s say Mary is 72. Her family doctor retired 5 years ago. She’s in the ED after a fall “weak and dizzy” (we see this a lot.)
